Fable Sounds made this and it is excellent, but hardly worth the money unless you are a famous film score producer from NSForums.

Most guys using it on the Mac love it, but have to use Dual Octo Quad Xeons or some insanely expensive unmovable DAW to get some use out of it. There's a guy in Vegas using it last year who was getting great sounds out of it, but had to arrange their song list around the load times, and even then the performance controllers would only work on the ModWheel half of the time. He had an Intel Quad 9000 series and it still beat the CPU silly.

Check the threads at the NS forum for it. You'll see the guys who hate it posting examples of what they don't like, and the famous guys who have Hollywood / New York deadlines and probably got a free copy, raving about how many movies and soundtracks they did w/ it. Funny how the famous guys when pryed about even posting a snippet to defend their decision, only the guys who have no luck w/ it post examples.

It just shows you how full of shit most of these clowns over there are.

I once listened to some boring ass " Beethoven Sonata " using Arturia's Modular and commented about how it sounded O.K. for MIDI File / VSTi recording and the guy claimed he had a living room full of MOTM stuff and found the Arturia to have a better sound, and that he recorded the parts himself...........sure pal..

At any rate it is a good instrument but hardly worth the cash. I have to use several libraries in Gigastudio to achieve a similar level of quality, but at least I can use it live and the controllers work. If they would update it and fix the problems I would consider it later when the price comes down, but it appears to be the usual hit and run developer who would rather make another expensive instrument to sell under another new name that doesn't function as advertised either.

I didn't understand why they went halion.. it's halion engine unless I'm mistaken. I guess halion runs better on mac or something then. it's sad when something with such a hefty price tag has technical issues.

My total cost of all of my Horn libraries is 850 USD, and each library sits on it's own drive instead of cloggin' up a single drive w/ Chiggabyte sized samples costing several thousand dollars.
When we do EW & F or old Rufus w/ Chaka Khan my Bassist slaps and my Horns swell and honk quite fine.
But they definately don't do Broadway music.
Shelley would kill me if I told her she had to sing Liza Minnelli's New York, New York.....
It's bad enough I have to do covers all night, but Broadway music would just kill me.

Actually, broadway stuff the way I hear it, sounds the same as any sample lib these days, since it goes through PA anyway.

Chris Hein always seemed like he was listening to our suggestions w/ his 1st Horn Library for K2. It had an excellent Trumpet Section and Solo Trombone, but my Gigastudio libraries had Alto & Tenor sections, and an upper register Trumpet library for over the top solo work. This was a major pain having to create custom keyswitches in giga to match the K2 stuff, etc. But at the end of the day my Sax sections whooped his solo Tenor and Alto to shame. The thing is, solo saxophones sampled suck, where as sections can be used quite effectively.
This instrument seems to have it all finally.
He is the John Bowen of VSTi's IMO. He listens, and constantly upgrades.
The new Version II will be in my DAW next week.
I must use it and make a demo from Amandla or Bitches Brew so you can hear it. The videos and audio demos are all it took to sell me.
I will still use my Muse Baritone Solo & Sections, and the mighty Screaming Trumpets for the upper register Maynard Ferguson style of playing, but CHHorns II is sure to be a masterpiece.
He promises even more later. I expect version III will have Baritones and maybe upper register trumpet too.
I will most likely go to XP64 soon as well w/ 8GB's. My 3GB Switch w/ 4GB's has appeared to max out since adding the VSL Symphonic Strings.
If you want a great VSTi for sections of Altos, Tenors, Trombones, and Trumpets will a ridiculous amount of KSwtch's for falls, shakes, swells, staccatos, etc. It's a Must.
