the title says it all
I am TIRED of my Athlon system and want to get a 100% intel mobo+cpu combo
I think i will get a Pentium III 1Ghz. What mobo should I get with this CPU?
P4 means that i would need the new expensive RAM thingy... so P3 1Ghz is fine
thanks for your help
I've heard the Intel D815EEA is a good stable one... is it true? my gf's computer has this one

ahh forgot to say... with the athlon mobo+cpu, i had the following problems with pulsar II:
. the legendary PCI overflow
. MIDI extremely unstable (notes get stuck etc..)
I also couldnt send digital video back to my miniDV camcorder (firewire), "they" said oh its a known problem with the via chipset..
anyway... GIVE ME A 100% intel machine!

I cant believe this... I saw that I could upgrade my mobo to a AMD760 chipset one, and KEEP the Athlon 900Mhz CPU I have here... GREAT NEWS!
BUT
But its not possibe... SLOT A... SLOT A is what I need... and there is no existing mobo with AMD760 chipset that supports SLOT A...
AAARGHHHH
ok

asus cusl2-c is the standard pulsar board for best pci performance. a search would have shown you that.
or get the asus a7m266 and a new athlon chip. still cheaper than the intel stuff . . . (AMD761 chipset)

yes, subhumans devidement into 'muscle' systems (with 760 & athlon) and 'throughput' systems (with i815 & p3) is showing well the actual situation.
i still hope, new chipsets will chage this, making 'muscles' also run on boards with good 'throughput'...

e.g. nForce or SiS735
so long i´m fine (with 100% intel...

OK here's what happened
. after investigating, I discovered that MY ABIT KA7-100 BURNED! It died! all a sudden
. I couldnt buy an AMD760 chipset motherboard, simply because they don't make them for my SLOT A Athlon CPU
. My girlfriend, the day of HER birthday, surprised me with a bag... it had 2 boxes inside it... an INTEL D815EEA2 motherboard (!) and an INTEL PENTIUM III 1Ghz processor (!) WOW... She's amazing!
. I installed the new Mobo and it works MUCH BETTER!
voila
