Hummel Synths OP-8

Is this synth still available, and does it work w/ 4.5 / 5.0 software ?

I first noticed Thrust and started trying out some synths. This guy has some great stuff and was wondering if anyone has used it.

The Gemini WT sounds really analog for being a wavetable synth.

I must find out more.

Some of the synths crash Scope when I remove them from a project. First time I ever had a Scope crash, so I am a little nervous. But his synths as well as Solaris presets are very nice.

one of the best Scope synths around, focussed on the pure synth engine...
it's amazing what this thing can do with just a bit of smart oscillator and filter control.
Lush, beefy and electric - it's also famous for it's Commodore 64 SID like sounds.
Doesn't really try to emulate the SID, but can sound like one :D
This would be one of my favourite choices for the Casio Midi Sax

cheers, Tom

SOLD !!

I hope it doesn't crash my Projects like some of the others do. Gemini WT is a great synth which led me to this one. I remeber when I first used a Scope DAW that OP-8 and some EQ called ION were installed but I didn't even know to how to access them. The tech loaded all of his devices and synths, which were also very good.

Do you know if Wavelength ever released his 6 Operator FM synth?

Sorry, ...I forgot...Thanks Astro.

Still, a very devoted and capable guy who gave Scope users such class. It has to be the same cat who did the original presets for QWave and Solaris too. A fierce individual.

Back to the synth page, and early morning practice.

Thanks Again Astro.

I'm a very big fan of his SparC synth, modeled after the Korg Mono/Poly.
Together with Prodissy my two most used synths.

Sad wavelength kind of vanished from the scene

by next to nothing
SparC was my very welcome replacement for my sold mono/poly, the only "crucial" feature i missed was the OSC cycling capability of the MP-4. Very playable as a mono synth. i know i recommended these to you loooooong time ago Jimmy, so you know where i stand ;)

Try getting thru on his email and maybe he'll save you.

PS: I have experienced the crashes you mentioned as well, i THINK (long time go...) i got around them by reducing voices to 0 before exiting. not sure though, but worth a try anyway.

Should have tested it for you, but my scope rig is dead atm....

Got it !!!!!!!

I have sent an email for info on the 6 Operator FM synth and plan on buying the bundle.

It looks like I will have QWave / Vectron chains, Solaris hard & soft chains, SpaceF chains, Flexor III Modular chains, Hummel chains, and the B2003 Rotary channel. There's my 6 channels. 10 left for Giga.

I just love the insect logo. Way Cool.

yes, but he's not developing anymore. In an interview (related to his own music career) from around beginning 2006 he said he stopped making devices, only helping out fellow developers now and then... I suspect things like Bowen presets and some chatting.
Besides, on his wavelength site it still says creamware, so not really up to date.

I so do wish Xite will host stuff like wavelength, spaceF BB, and others that did not have the usual Scope registration procedure, or should it in fact be easier to transfer???

will there be Xite????

All I know is wavelength devices weren't really linked to specific cards, but rather the user, sometimes even with a personal 'registered to x' message on the GUI. I only hope that the basic software used in Scope 5 accepts this behaviour of registering a device.
But no, noone has said it would be different in scope5 or xite, but noone said it would be the same.

It functions very well under 4.5, except the volume for each preset should be restored at about a 9 o'clock position.

When closing the project it causes no problems, but this beast eats up DSP's at an alarming rate. Seems like Wavelength knew about the XITE-1 way back when.....

It's a very capable design, but very different from a DX / Yamaha GUI. Hummel is very gifted and this definately desreves my attention. The OP8 has some very interesting Portamento features, and looks like a great sounding synth. I must buy it.

Just listening to presets on Plastic, Thrust and other synths from him has caused me to really check out ALL of his synths.

I assume I have it, too, provided I got my hands on it before lots of the files were wiped out...

Sadly a lot of wavelength devices (I remember plastic, plasma, Avalon, Coma, Gemini, Mutant) don't works under 4.5, they requires 4.0... :(
