Syncing to analog tape

Hello all;

I just purchased a Tascam ms 16 tape machine. I am running Nuendo 3 with 2 pulsar cards runnng through 2 a16's (z-link) for a total of 32 I/O. I want to sync analog to DAW, so I purchased a Steinberg Timelock pro pretty cheap. Now from what I gather, SMPTE gets striped to tape, then feeds the TLPro, which in turn sends MTC to the DAW. Now this is what I'm not clear about: TLPro also has 1 wordclock output; Do I need to hook that up to the 2 a16's???? To ensure sync??? Or. do I need to sync the pulsar cards some how??? I would love to be able to shuttle between analog and the DAW, without a hitch.

All input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

TG

aaaahhhhh....quaint.

Striping SMPTE timecode to tape. I remember doing that. Course that was years ago now.

the confusion is that there are different types of sync, otherwise it's pretty simple...
MTC runs the sequencer and everything's in sync, time sync that is.

digital sync, which is what the bnc connector is for, is so that the indiviual frames of digital data will be in sync between multiple digital machines. since the tape is analog, digital sync doesn't apply.
