I use Kontakt - but I thought this might be of interest to Gigastudio users

No biggie actually, as their support appuratus was lame unless you knew somebody.
I am just glad I got the 64 bit drivers in case I ever need to jump up in the O.S. area. As of now GS4 is incompleted IMHO, but it hosts VSTi's pretty well, and is a great place to make custom key switched instruments for GVI. 64bit GVI won't be released which is too bad.
I also have Kontackt, chance favors a prepared mind.
I have learned that every app is different but is wise to have a back up plan. I usually would hear a library or Instrument and buy it whatever format it is. It's a pity to say hey that sounds great....but I only use Gigastudio....Yeah, sorry to hear about it.
Having STS/Giga & Kontackt, I thought I had the gig covered. I should be O.K. until I hear the next great instrument, but by that time Kontackt will cease developing as everyone seems to be going to their own playback engine to avoid paying fees to NI & Tascam. Luckily I use Bidule as a host, but it's audio engine has been used by Garritans ARIA, and Sibelius lately. That's good to know cause I use it live to control all of the different formats of samplers I use live.
Teac Should Axe Tascam.

I will have a look at Bidule - it seems to have been in beta for ages - they are more interested in providing custom solutions to other music software developers than getting their own stuff done

Plus also Halion seems dead - not my cup of tea
I have Kontakt 3 plus the VSL Special Edition and the Plus extension which is awesome

Support at Steinberg was hinting to me that the full version of Halion is going to be free in Cubase in the future.

VSL actually is top notch these days. I have some VSL stuff for Giga and their tools were implemented in GS3 like iMIDI and work really well.
In the future I want a RAM based playback engine and a motherboard with 128 GB's. Bidule or another host will provide the proper communications, until then I have what I need thankfully and can perform instead of whinihg about Giga's demise.
Garritans Steinway sounds awesome, and ARIA's engine made by Plogue is rock solid. 32 bit playback is actually a noticable step above 24 bit and more than welcome.

Yep they have the Halion player already. It sounds pretty good with the factory sounds. They give you a wide variety.
