Can't get this to NOT sound like never ending story

I wrote this theme for a short film my friend's doing, it's an intro for a vocal piece... but the progression screams, Never Ending Story!! And it seems like anything I do, makes it sound even more like Never Ending Story. Of course, right now I've submitted to that, and just went on with making it sound like Never Ending Story. Actually it's just like a generic synthpop sound. You can shoot me for using the arpeggiator, and still trying to figure out a way NOT to sound like Never Ending Story at the same time.

But let's say if I weren't going to that route. Maybe a more cool house approach.. I just can't imagine this progressions working with anything else... too straight forward for it to not sound corny. I think my auto composing program that I made for the automatic techno project could even think up this progression.

You know, one negative effect this nintendo stuff's had on me is that I've lost prespective of temporal arrangement, just a bit.. I seem to steer towards harmonizing everything, with these long lush lines. Cool here, but I need to get my short stabs and percussive lines back. hehe.

Yes Indeed,

I think it's great stuff. I listen all of you guys when I get stumped and it kicks me in the ass.
Just remember that about every dozen ideas you create, if one is the kind that's a very high rate.

Often guys who criticize themselves harshly are pushing themselves harder everytime.

I think this variety you present is unique and different from your other works. Variety is the way to go. Nail down a theme and move on.

Years ago we couldn't record our ideas easily, now it's a cinch.

I find that when I come back to something later I usually can improve it.

Nice Work Brotha' Man Ken.
