z-link and adat at the same time.

Quick question.

I never used z-link before, but i might need another few i/o. and also connect to a computer with a EMU1212 with ADAT i was wondering if i could use z-link for my a16u and the adat i/o to another converter at the same time?

and if i do use zlink with the a16 are the outputs sent to the adat as well as the analog outs?

and do i just need normal firewire cables for it?

thank you,
what i mean by the second question is, say i am using z-link and i output from scope to the a16. will the data show up on the adat out of the a16 as well as the analog outs.

yes, it will if i remember properly...
you won't gain any additional channels, though.

*kick*

I have a question,
I've got 3 6DSP cards: a Pulsar2 Z-Link (my main card with most of my plugins installed), a Pulsar2 classic and a SRB 6DSP.

I have a luna box, which obviously only can be connected to the Z-Link card.
But I also have an A16 Ultra. If I want to connect both boxes, what will be better performance wise? To connect it throught ADAT cables to my Z-Link card as well (1 ADAT in and 1 ADAT out = only 8 ch in/out @44.1k) or to connect it to the Pulsar2 Classic (2 ADAT in and 2 ADAT out = 16 ch in/out).
Is there no STDM or PCI bottleck when having these extra in-/outputs running on a second card, while all plugins are on my main card?

cheers,

Darcy

the plugins dont actually run on any particular card. just having one card registered to a plugin means it can run on any dsp of any card in your system.

anyways i think you should be fine

if you are running at 44/48 then use the zlink on the zlink box and adat on the a16u

if you want to run at higher rate its best to use the zlink on the a16u because you can still use all the 16 i/o at the higher rate.
(then you might try and get another zlink plate and put it on your SRB card)

Thanks for making that clear Neutron. I plan to stick with 44.1kHz, so connecting the A16U to the Pulsar2 classic through ADAT for the full 16 channels seems like the best solution way for me.
