John Cooper, can you please ban Braincell?

It's getting so that I can't read a decent conversation on PlanetZ anymore. Braincell just goes around insulting everyone and acting like Sonic Core is the worst company on earth -- why the h*** is he still hanging around on a SC forum anyway???
This place is getting very unpleasant, and I think we all agree we'd like to move on.
The other option is that everyone here must agree to ignore Braincell from now on. Be quiet and he'll go away.
Thanks,
Shayne

First of all, i guess this should be a pm to John/Nestor, as i suspect it might get pretty insulting in a short time.
But since it is allready here, i must say i find it peculiar that he is allowed to go on forever. to his defence he DOES have some (allthough, imho VERY few) valid points however, just a lack of where to put his frustrations. Critisism should be allowed, but there is a clear line as to the difference between that and pure trolling. and i cant see how anyone can argue how his constant, off-topic hijacking of threads isnt the latter.
Its all about common sense. I guess you cant pm Braincell about it as he would get a restraint on you (as he did me, allthough i had pretty strong wothing in our correspondance), but i cant see any other reason for him to post what he does beside provoking. If it were atleast some constructivenes in it, or atleast some base in reality, and was posted in a relevant thread, i could understand it. But as long as that is not how it is, and i know he had his warnings, i see no reason for letting him go on trolling.
I know we dont like censorship, but when it is so obvious that he has no interest in anything else than being the sour apple just for the fuck of it, i see no reason for letting him go on.
The "everyone ignore him" bit was something i had in mind myself, and i have actually enforced it for my own sake in large parts of may/ brginning of june. It doesnt work tho, as long as he has the final (allthough off-topic) word in a lot of (oh so misplaced) threads.

Sorry but i don't agree.
He expresses his points of view that might be different from the most ones, included mine, but he doesn't trespass a level that can't be managed by the level of attention and the decision to answer or not to what he says, which is free, it's not prescribed by any doctor to engage a conversation.
I think that his freedom comes together with the freedom of anyone else to ignore him or to argue or even to send him to hell. I don't remember a case in which he's calling people names or something really insulting, for what's up to me he has the right to be wrong, like anyone of us.
Sometimes he gets tiring, yes, I remember when I answered to him posting the link to a picture of the complaining smurf, which I'm continuously tempted to do again because I feel that it's a perfect description of a personality.
But he also has some thoughtful posts and stimulating points of view, not to mention some great music I've heard from him.
If anyone feels offended by a particular post he can report it to the moderators and it will be up to them to decide what to do with his account.
That's my personal opinion.

I once got angry at him and might suggest to anyone feeling the same to just log off the internet, go take a walk outside and most important, take a break from planetz for a little while. It might sound simplistic but it works

i have been responding to his posts recently but from now on i'm going to just look at the post before his and ignore anything he says (it's usually a loop anyway).
Where's the mute button when you need it?

I like your post stardust. But Braincell does not need to comprehend anything, he has his own vision about what an audio product should look like, or be. Is he disrespectful? Is he violating Mr. Cooper's agreements? Nah. Is he a troll?

but in a good way and he must be laughing out loud in his corner of the internet too.
If we were all to challenge SC the way he does, they'd sure get more input about the flaws we find, be it show stoppers or little bugs. Look at Eliam, who recently kept ralph standing on his toes about a serious modular bug, it was solved almost the same day! If nobody had said anything about, it would still be there. I like Eliam style though. You don't like Braincell's style? Hey, I'm totally with you on this. Does he have to get banned for his challenging attitude? nah, I don't think so.
I'm not trying to lecture anyone, or defend him or anything, it's just that he's a good musician who's input should be valuable to an audio company like SC, if they can filter his wise ass internot forum attitude, or not.
Please no more bans
Lets live with our diseases and grow upon them.. ya know like someone said, 'what does not kill me makes me stronger' ?
Huub, where the f*ck are you??

I favour a mute button instead of a permanent ban.
I really think that it's hard to have any kind of rational discussion with this kind of idiocy constantly on display. I for one would rather not read his inane child-like nonsense. I can't really figure it out (even DXL got a life and moved on)... and it is too tedious to read.

DXL ................. memories !!!!!!!!!!!
Aren't I right in saying that this could be put to an anonymous vote within the web software, Shayne?

I don't agree with banning forum members unless they're repeatededly & deliberately making a pest of themselves by being abusive & offensive to other forum members.
Every one of us should be capable of knowing when we're crossing lines that shouldn't be crossed simply by using whatever common sense we might have. We're all able to act stupidly (hey, I know I have

), but we should all know when we're doing so & when to stop. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

What he said. My mouse has a scroll wheel; I find it's very easy to use.

Another point to add which is relevant is that imo forum witch-hunts are probably as distasteful as poor forum behaviour.

Agreed. Personally I'd rather log off, and this is what I've been doing (not from Planet Z in particular but the internet in general).

I think he just needs to argue sometimes, it winds down part of his brain, kind of an intellectualized outlet for aggressions. Thought he often has interesting and good things to say, I generally don't pay much attention to obviously complainy threads now, I'm looking for items of interest that I can learn from, not so much knee-jerk (and sometimes uninformed) complaining. Just scroll past an item if it isn't informative.

Yes, he knows how to be obnoxious in his time, but he's sensitive enough to keep a thread of respect althrough his rantings. True enough, it's unpleasant to have a profusion of threads which could be called "Braincell vents his frustrations, stirs his own insatisfaction ad nauseam and is rude towards his forum mates"...
It pollutes the forum if you ask me, but I'm not so sure this warrants a ban... Maybe a friendly nudge to help him realize he can get his point across without becoming an annoyance to everyone around? I guess that thread can fulfill this purpose. I hope... I'm a hopeful person!

where is the thread in question btw.. i check every day.. not all posts, but just peek in the OT forum and a couple of others.. but I must have missed it.
I guess I can say this because I'm not directly involved, but I don't think the banning thing is neessary at all... There's no need to crowd around and "rate" braincell this way or that way. Actually we shouldn't do that, it's just group abuse. I personally would hate to be at the center of something like that. If you have a personal problem with him, please take care of it privately.

Maybe you should read the posts in question, I think you'd understand why this thread exists... But I agree with you basically...

lately I've started to ignore threads with more than 3-4 pages since it usually becomes too complicated to follow, or takes a nose dive.
