Hello Martin!

I like it! It's very Master Of Puppets (by the sound of this track, I assume you know exactly what I mean by that - it's a smashing album!)

Rather than say everything I like about it (which I guess would be the same reasons you decided to subject it to public opinion), I will offer you my constructive criticism - I hope you don't mind, and please don't take these comments as being my only opinions about the track; like I said, I think it's wicked.

The opening is excellent - really lush, and I love the strings, bass and guitars.

My only gripe is that I think the solo guitar is a little bit too dry (not enough verb/delay) and a tiny bit too overdriven. Listen to the opening solo of One from the Justice For All album - it's clean as fuck!

The 'drop' where the distorted guitars come in isn't, in my opinion, big enough - partly to do with the drums being a bit narrow and quiet, and also the drone guitar chords not being loud enough. That bit should have a bit more impact, IMO. Also, the strings are either too big, or the guitars are too small - obviously it's relative, but when the strings go and the guitars enter, I'm left slightly underwhelmed by the low/low-mid frequency balance.

The double kick drum bit... the kick could do with more low-end, I think. If I'm right, you've taken into account the need for a lot of presence in the kick, but I venture to say you've taken it a bit too far. The narrow EQ peak needs to be higher (where you seem to have set it gives it a slightly boxy sound), and while a common mistake is to clutter the low end with both the bass and the kick, I don't think the kick has enough low-end at all - certainly not enough to interfere with the bass, so perhaps you were being slightly cautious on that front?

I hope I haven't just come across as being a right wanker! These are just my thoughts, and like I say, I think the track overall is really good.

Cheers!

Chris

PS Check out my track and feel free to rip it to pieces! It's the 'Breakbeat / Pure Evil' post. Not sure if you know much about dance music (do you?), but I would welcome some similarly constructive criticism, if you have the time (surely that's why we post music here in the first place!)

I love the sound of Dynatube.

They should thank you as I just decided to buy all of their Bass & Guitar plugs.

I also have a VST effect from softube (http://www.softube.se/acoustic_feedback.php ) that I can't wait to use with these.

I think the recordings sound great.

How many different mics fo you use.

And if you don't mind, which mic pre?
