Hi again, what a wonderfull day!
Here comes VLim The Volkslimiter (like the Volkszampler as free sampler a free limiter for all).
Didn't do much testing on it, so it could well be big b*s*, so I won't call it a Mastering-Limiter until I did some much more testing & maybe adjusting on it. I had a drumloop running in the background and was very happy what I could squeeze out of this little box with it's TWO (!!!!!) knobs - yes this seems to be my easiest device so far

so it's a limiter for really everyone.
The algo of this little helper - including a selfmade VCA and including a combination of RMS & peak detection - is again a big step forward for me.
have fun & PLEASE REPORT ME IT'S WEAK POINTS!!!
Martin
EDIT:
Beta02
- Automatic Release Adjustment
- minor changes
- only ca. 0.3 milliseconds lookaheadtime!!!
EDIT:
Beta03
- finetuning tuning of some internal values
- sorry, again 4ms lookahead, but thats normal for a mastering-limiter I think!?
EDIT:
Beta05 kind of leaves the beta stadium. Could call it 1.0 I think, but still some things can be done.
- knob sets gain, ring sets SHAPE!
- no adjustment of softclip anymore, it is enabled on the lowest setting
- much improved behavior (kind of a bugfix) on stereo material with different LR signal distribution
- new look

Hi Martin, and thanks for this...it´s very good!
What `d like to be improved is that the gain-increase
is a bit steep, from -9 at far left to -1 in just a tiny change is a lot.
But that´s the only issue so far. I set up Vlim and ANTIKbass as a pair
and compared them against Vinco, and it turned out that on some material
Vlim and ANTIKbass was what I prefered!

Vinco seems to enhance the high midrange in some way, that differs much
from the sound of your devices.
Great work again, Martin!

Yes, that's true, I will correct that... Anyway Vlim is not very 'subtle' - I seem to have been in an agressive mood, when I dialed in the background-defaults. It reacts very fast, which is not good on any material. Much smoother results should be possible.
Thanks! I need all feedback I can get!
martin
P.S. Just noticed the similarity of Vlim & Vinco's names. The V in Vlim has really nothing to do with "vintage". Vlim is a very modern limiter

More again Martin....
Dude, I so cant keep up.......between your devices and JLS mod patches (with Roys growing module collection, which I also cant keep up with), I could just spend all day loading and unloading new things...... and still not get through em all....
hehe
thanks tho, cant wait to try it. Tho I havent as yet tried the first beta of these.

Beta 03 will come soon.
Both versions are interesting. I found some colourations in 02 when limiting a bass, which were not there in 01, 01 has a more flattering sound in some cases because of the fixed release time - so I'll have to go into it again, but I'm very very satisfied with the developement so far. This will lead to a real mastering-limiter for sure.
Calling Shroomz: We need a cool surface for thisone in a few weeks!

O.K. here comes 03.
It again has something around 4ms lookahead & extremely reduced artifacts with bass compared to 02.
I'd do a master with it now, but until release version many of you out there maybe want to hold back a second... anyway, trust your ears!

Martin, it would help a lot if you could send me the panel module from VLim when it's ready to be re-skinned.

I don't know if you got my emails Martin, but the panel I sent you was just for previewing the pot & surround. I didn't intend you to think it was a finnished panel design since I wouldn't have put my logo on it if it was.
I suppose it looks cute, but I don't like the led ring setting the Shape parameter. I think it might be more ergonomic & just plain easier to use if Shape was set via a separate pot.

It's a pimped Jupiter pot. Fat rims & ice.
