ear problems

Since four days i'm experiencing a ear problem, especially with the left one:
pain, itch, lowering of hearing (particularly at high, mid high frequencies).
After a specialized examination i'm undergoing a treatment based on local antibiotic/antinflamatory.
Tough the thing in my opinion is not related to stress caused by sounds, since i'm working very few with music in these days, I wish to know if anyone experienced similar problems and which kind of precautions can be adopted when working long times with sounds.

im not a doctor, but what you describe fits a bacterial infection on the nerves in the inner ear. Headphones should be avoided dudring medivation period as these would stress the nerve endings.
Since you are put on antibiotcs you should notice a normalisation during the nex day or three. If not, and especially if you are noticing problems with balance/feeling dizzy, you should contact your docor again, as that would imply a viral infection.
but generally things would normalize within a week. after that, be sure to get an ear flush

Luckily I'm not having any dizziness or balance problem.
The other symptom I haven't reported in the previous post is kind of micro-ulceration, very superficial indeed, on the cartilaginous lobe standing at the beginning of the auricular duct. Feeling quite burning.
It's going a little better now.

sorry to hear. Every time I have any sort of ear irritation, I freak out since I don't want to mess them up quite yet. (though I know they will be, sooner or later) It's great you rushed to get it checked out.
I'm sure they told you several times.. with antibacterial treatment, make sure you take ALL the medicine, even if the symptoms go away. It's important that the agents stay in your system for a while, just to make sure whatever it is, dies out completely.
In the meanwhile, I think it's a good time to enjoy .. silence?

Hope it’s nothing important… If you could contact an specialist about it that would be the best. It may be expensive, but… you know, money doesn’t matter when it comes to health.

It's not usual to me having such diseases in a so acute form. The only other time it happened was kind of eight years ago, in summer time.
Of course, using closed-back headphones gonna give me some light trouble.
Being upset by the excessive use of drugs commonly committed at today, I should be inclined to interrupt the treatment as soon as possible.
Don't our grandparents faced similar things without any drugs?
On the other hand, considering our totally different life style of today and the evolution of the pathogenic agents, the wisest thing to do is to follow wise prescriptions.

Enjoy the silence; it anyway reminds me to Depeche Mode
Ken, I'm going out of topic now, but... I was reading your thread "what are you working to improve on, musically?"
I should have been glad to discuss the issue with my point of view.
Unluckily I'm in a period of great confusion about that.
More over, the disease I'm suffering from and the repercussions of it on my whole conditions make it being an hard task for me to talk about my experience without sounding anyway superficial or without reflecting anyway the sense of dumbness i'm into.
Thanks anyhow for the points you bring in the discussion.
I hope I'll be able to share my opinion as soon as possible.

That must be one of their worst songs ever.

regular use of headphones is a bad idea. closed back headphones are breeders of disease.
your ears are so important as a musician, i really hope that the problem is healed quickly!

I don't think it could be called properly a song: they sing the phrase 'enjoy the silence' for one time only, then there's the silence

Since some year I'm using an AKG K 240 Monitor. I bought it accidentally. At that time I was not aware the K 240 comes out with two different models: the Studio, having 55 Ohm impedance, and the Monitor, having 600 Ohm. The result is it never sounds very loud without an headphone amplifier, which I've never bought.
The closed back was a Sehnneiser eH2270 I still have but very rarely use.
I tend to use headphones the strictly necessary; consider, however, my home studio is located inside an apartment and it hasn't any acoustic treatment...
Thanks Garyb, it looks like the worst has gone. Having quite no more pain this evening.

True. In the first version they say it once. Stupid song.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence (Original)
In the reinterpreted version they say it more often.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy thee Silence (Reinterpreted)
Then there's the gruesome V for Vendetta version.
V for Vendetta version (Gruesome)
Then there's the version on top of WTC :O
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence (WTC version)
I personally prefer Halo
Depeche Mode - Halo
And Useless
Depeche Mode - Useless

Both the links state "the video is not available in your country". Strange.
The song I was only just listening to, instead doesn't appear in the CDs commercialized in your country as far as written in the
Italian Wikipedia page related.

Hello again, nice to hear you are getting better.
Just to comment on 2 things;
- My nick change was because Scope4live was offering a couple of cards for next to nothing in another thread, so i figured i would gain some benefit for changing my nick

It was just a humorous thing, notihng big. Maybe i have better luck offering a DMP/7 in return instead
Regarding ending your treatment as soon as possible, take Kensuguros advice and do the treatment fully. Breaking too early increases the risk of making your bacterial flora resistant to antibiotics, which is bad.
Hope you get well soon

That's an interesting song. Did you like the song named "There is no God"?
