Sorry but we dont get earthquakes - not scientifically possible - absolutly no fault lines anywhere near the UK! So why have we just had one? 4.6 on the 'ol Richter apparently - epicentre in Lincoln - probably the farthest away from any fault lines in the entire country!

Hmmm - I dont believe this story the media is sayin! All I know is my monitors n scope system was shakin big time (and I didnt even have any tunes playing at the time! Lol).

Cant offer any other explanation but im sayin something other than a natural earthquake happened!

It's the Illuminati or HARP....

HAARP can do that. it's in the official US government specification. your quake could be anything...

That explains last night. i'm in London and i woke up to hear some coat hangers rattling on my bedroom door. i thought there was someone in the house - spooked me for a moment. Now i know what it was. Amazing that we had some effects all the way down here.

I remember the one in '84 coming from Wales across the Midlands. It was quite an experience.
Last night it wasn't as strong in the Stoke area. My wife said the earth didn't move for her as much as usual.

In Germany mining in Saarland has been cancelled due to earthquakes.

Yes, Yorkshire was a huge place for coal mining, as was Stoke on Trent.
However the epicentre was in Lincolnshire & that hasn't a history of mining to my knowledge.

It wasn't mining related though. With mining style movement, you get rumbles for a week or 2 as things subside and then settle down again, as happened around here (Trentham) some years ago.
This was a genuine little quake that we have every few years.

Interestingly enough I started my working career down the coal mines.

Perhaps the mining in Saarland was cancelled on the back of earthquakes but was really a green political agenda. It was just easier to close the mines without disputes (???)

As far as I know, the saarland has a special ground structuure and it was proven, that the 4.0 earthquake happened, beacuse of the minin activities. However, you`re right with the reason, that mining in germany is not too lucrative those days.
But I doubt that has happened by a green agenda. The german tories do not fit in the green standards too much

Forgive my ignorance but I'm assuming Saarbrucken is in Saarland??
I have many fond memories of Zweibrucken nearby and the Hotel Alte Post.

It wasn't Zweibrucken - it was a lovely little village called Blieskastel.
And we used to have German friends in the area who we would meet up with in Austria every summer for walking holidays. I think it was a village surrounded by lovely hills and woods - Rohrbach?

Anyway, got my facts right.

I must have slept better than I thought as the eathquake did go through our area last night.
A friend has now told me of shaking wardrobes (no comment ) and 3 miles away from us some chimneys have fallen off a factory.

I hear also that it was felt in parts of Scotland and the South (London area)

So it was a good quake.

Can't find any faults map as plugin for Google Earth.

I had this kind of plug when I was using Nasa Worldwind....
