Synchonized (or slaved?) EQs

I don't know if anyone would bother implementing something like this...
I generally have two (stereo) parametric eqs on my final mix, one on the vocals and one on the instruments. The vocal one boosts around 5k and the instrument cuts around 5k. Kind of a crude way of 'carving' a place in the mix for vocals. I often slave the frequency on both EQs to a midi control and just sweep around that region to find where things sit the nicest. I've considered building this in the modular, and would like to know - are the eqs used in the 4 band PEQ the same as the parametric EQs in the modular?
