luna 2496 not working

Hi,

I'm running a 3 card setup with luna, powersampler and pulsar2. I have a luna 2496 breakoutbox that i can normally connect to either the luna card or the powersampler.

the breakout box has just stopped working in either port. the power led isn't coming on, although when i plug it into the luna card i get a brief transient pop and the lights come on for a second so i guess there must still be some connection taking place.

any ideas would be appreciated.

oh yeah, i had just taken the cable out to use it as a regular firewire for file transfer from a tascam HD recorder, then when i plugged it back in, it was dead.

thanks

dave

well, did you try another cable?

yes, i tried a new cable but with no results. i'd be worried that i'd blown the output, but as there are outputs on two cards, it's unlikely that they've both gone.

Remember that the Luna box will not work unless you have added the z-link source or destination to your project. Just a reminder ...

yes, that's an easy thing to overlook, but i think have all the connections right in this case. the project was already set up and working. i just unplugged the cable and used it for something else, then plugged it back in and nothing happened.

does anyone know if it's possible to damage the hardware just by unplugging a cable and plugging it back in again?

don't think so.
did you try reloading the luna modules in your project?

sometimes unloading all modules and reloading them fixes some problems...

i've tried making an empty project and loading all modules from scratch. i can send audio through the analogue phono outputs on the pulsar 2 but nothing digital. the power light is still not coming on on the luna box. does this sound like a hardware problem? is there anywhere that i could get the box repaired if it is?

thanks everyone for any suggestions so far.

yes, SonicCore can repair it if it's broken. have you tried connecting the luna box with the computer off and then starting it?

yes, i've tried that. i get a pop through the speakers when i turn the computer on, and all the led's flash, but then the power light doesn't come on again.
