If any of you use these and have any comments (or if anyone has ditched these) it'd be great if you could let me know your thoughts before Santa puts them on his sleigh

i think GPO is a very good value for the price, simple to use, and with good quality. obviously, you don't have the realism of VSL, but with some study and tweaking you can make GPO sounds really good...
i don't know the spectrasonic products, so i can't comment on them!

Yes I have seen the offer & that is what attracted me to it.
There's also an offer on Stylus (via Time & Space) which includes 5 expander packs for almost free (saving £200 UK).
