UAudio is not stupid... after a lot of years of up & down of the brand Creamware...
Anyway we have Minimax, Prodyssey, ecc. 8)

ps. SC should take inspiration from the good marketing actions of UAD!!! They makes monthly newsletters and a coupon discount (from 25 to 50%) almost every 2-3 months!!!
It's impossible not to buy something in this way.... :D
And they makes a new plugin almost every 3-4 months.

yeah, that newsletter is the reason I read about it. and the monthly discounts as well as the bonusses added to your card make it indeed hard to resist.
not to forget that they continuously maintain their software... 8)
(although they dropped w2k support recently, and I didn't figure out yet whether it runs though but is just not officially supported anymore)

well, it's difficult to compare UAD and Creamware or SonicCore

the first one is an established brand in professional audio for decades, found in countless studios and a synonym for high end analog processing

afaik the sons(?) of the former owner had the idea to benefit from that reputation in the digital domain as well.
a smart move to pick an outdated graphics card at probably $10 per item in 1k qty
easy to program, as the 'brand' algorithms were documented in house
and easy to integrate as VST is their one and only darling

SonicCore is doing a job that is dozens of times more complicated
they have to arrange their stuff on the OS level with multiplatform compatibility
SFP is a supervising audio router supposed to cooperate with all applications
and finally they have no decades of analog fame that makes people buy any sh*t anyway

cheers, Tom

For what it's worth, UA is also subject to constant moaning from customers who want more powerful cards..

It would be interesting to know how many instances of TD can be run on a UAD1 card.

there is neither an estimation of dsp consumption nor the pricing available right now. but it was said it's gonna happen in december...

well, TD is barely no processing load - the SFP plugin is crippled artificially to fail starting with the 7th mono instance (afaik)
the focus is on the ultrafast processing, but that shouldn't be a big deal for UAD either.
On the other hand VST latency makes it less competive than SFP and the process itself is well established anyway.

They just put it up. 199 yankee dollars. (dollar sign don't work on this keyboard).

DSP is pretty hi for what is does compared to Scope version. 9 mono, 8 stereo per card @ 44.1k.

Pass.
