Hello from new user! Routing question!

Hello there!
I'm new to Scope, I just installed my first card, a Pulsar 2 and it seems to be a great platform. Nuff sweet talk. I have a question about routing, trivial for the rest of you I'm sure. The problem is that when I route through something through an effect, the sound seems to disappear. When I disable the effect (by means of the crossed speaker icon), the sound is heard again. Example of routing:
Scope virtual MIDI keyboard -> Blue synth ->Multitap delay->Left input of S/PDIF destination. The Multitap delay "consumes" the signal in this example (when enabled) , but the actual effect or sound source does not seem to make a difference.
Thanks in advance!
/Peter

First off are you using the SPDIF to monitor the sound? i would put a mixer (even a small one) between the output of the effect and the input of the SPDIF Dest module. This way you can control and monitor the output level - it'll also help you see if there's audio coming out of the delay even if you don't hear it. With this routing do the VUs in the mixer show nothing or are they registering a signal?

Personally i find it easier to monitor via the Analog Dest module - can you try that just to see if you get a signal? Also try it in stereo, as a multitap delay will put some delays on the left and some the right - maybe you're missing one of the audio legs in a stereo effect.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm using the SPDIF cause my monitoring amp has an SPDIF input. Anyway, I've also tried the following setup:
SCOPE MIDI keyboard->inferno->hexachorus->MIX16_S->SPDIF. And it is the same thing there. Inactive effect gives a healthy level indication on the mixer and sound in the monitors. The audio is completely cut off when I activate the effect. I've played around with the level controls on the effect so I'm quite sure it's not a level problem. More suggestions?
Regards,
Peter

Here you can see the routing window, the simplest possible.

I've now tested a bit more, and it seems that the problem only occurs for some plugins and not for others (although I 've only tested "standard" plugins). Maybe a bad installation?

Well a re-install can't do any harm. i have to say that your problem is a bit odd to say the least.

Have your routing window on your screen,

go to start,...programs.....accessories........paint.

put a view of your routing window on the screen again....then press print screen.

go to paint .......edit tab..........paste.

Then save not as a 24 bitmap, but a jpeg.

And post it here, of course after you save it in paint under image>skew>45 instead of the 100 value, that way people won't whine about how they have to scroll sideways.

Here is a typical example, master chorus "eats up" the audio when enabled.

Also post your complete computer set-up, motherboard, processor, RAM, Scope cards, which slots they're in - as much detail as possible. i see something that says TripleDAT, do you have a tripleDAT card installed too? Don't know if this would cause some problems - i thought they were ISA cards.

a chorus will "eat up" the sound as there will have to be some phase cancellation(that's what makes it sound good). you have to adjust the settings. 100% wet will be "ghost-lized".......

This might sound dumb, but make sure with whatever effect you're using you have both the Direct and Wet knobs on max.
