Sonar 7 multiprocessor - crackling

I have just got Sonar 7 and suddenly it is crackling on audio and soft synths. Sonar 6 was fine.

My PC in device manager says I have ACPI Multiprocessor PC; I thought that had been switched off, perhaps 'something' has set it back on.

But Live works fine no matter what I push onto it, audio and soft vst synths, and that uses the same Asio Scope drivers.

I have done the usual things, no other programs no virus checkers, set affinity to 0 processor for scope and sonar. Still crackles.

Any ideas?

How do I switch multiprocessor off globally? Since that might solve the S7 crackling.

Thanks

Go into boot.ini and add "/onecpu" (without quotes) to the very end. That'll switch Windows into using only one cpu.

Fixed

That multiprocessor change didn't do it, thanks anyway I have left it in the boot.ini.

I changed the Scope ULLI settings from the minimum to the maximum, and that stopped the crackling.

So Sonar must not adjust for ULLI; perhaps Live and Acid do somehow as they work ok with the fastest ULLI setting.

Thanks all

If Sonar is using ASIO, it'll use whatever latency Scope is set to automatically. If it's set to WDM (very unstable), you have to "profile" it first.

The lowest latency setting is generally pretty unstable under most situations. The highest setting is not suitable for realtime soft synths, if you're using any. I usually use the middle setting; try that and see if it works.

Yes that works fine, it was the fastest setting I had it on that caused the problem. Doesn't affect Live or Acid though.
