Moved house - finally getting back into Scope but...

i can't get Cubase to see the ASIO drivers. i have an old version of Cubase (VST5.1r1) with the old parallel port dongle. OK not the latest sequencer i know but it works. Or should i say worked because i haven't used it (or Scope) in over a year and due to moving house and a few other things need to reinstall both Scope and Cubase, but i'm buggered now if i can get Cubase to see the Scope drivers.

If i go to Options>Audio Setup>System and look at the ASIO panel i have drivers for my Pod and Zoom, no Scope ones. It's been a while, what are the Scope drivers called? i tried manually copying them from the Drivers folder in Scope to the ASIO folder in Cubase. Is there something else i need to do that i've forgotten in my old age?

the first dumb question is "are you sure the scope drivers are installed?" check the device manager.

if the card is in the device manager, then it should be available in cubase. does that old version want to run a driver test?

the asio driver for Scope is called, wait for it, asioScope....

...er, where is this? Do you mean from Control Panel in windows>Sound and Audio Devices? i see Creamare Play/Rec1 there.

Nope.

The one i copied from the Driver folder was called cwScopeProp.dll - is that the right one?

God my memory on all this is awful. i'm sure it wasn't this difficult a couple of years ago.

no, you don't need to copy anything fromthe driver folder, windows does.

the fact that you see Creamware play/rec means that the driver is probably installed. i was suggesting you check in control panel/system/hardware/device manager....

asioScope is the driver to choose in the audio settings in cubase. of course it won't work if there are not asio modules in the routing window before cubase is open, but i know that you know this.....

Yes i've tried all the different ASIOs 1 and 2 in the routing window, but for some reason Cubase is not seeing them. Have tried many reinstalls of both Cubase and Scope. i know VST is an old program - does that have anything to do with it? i'm sure i had it working before.

Hi,
Have you tried installing Cubase while scope project with an asio driver is running ? May be that way the asio driver is "active" when you install cubase.

Just an idea, i don't think you normally have anything special to do, but in general I install like that (cubase after scope and while scope project with asio is running).

The driver is called asioscop.dll

Do a registry key search for it. I bet you won't find much. Try to reinstall Scope.

OK resolved - just thought i'd share in case this crops up again. i don't understand why it works though.

When i reinstall Scope i get to the XTC page. i don't use XTC so before i just hit the ignore (or whatever it's called) button. This time when i reached the XTC page i ticked (checked) the Enable ASIO button which was blank and hit Save. On launching Scope i then had to disable XTC mode in Settings (for some reason it defaulted to this), relaunched Scope and now VST sees the Scope drivers. Phew.

maybe your driver still lies in your old house being unused. :D

*amused*

I would expect a driver to linger around on the fairway :D
