The need for gratitude

How cool is this feeling… GRATITUDE! It is such a big word… such a magnificent feeling.

Gratitude is one of the building blocks of anything which has duration and goodness within. Gratitude is an emotion that keeps away deceitfulness and lies, because Gratitude is being conscious of what we have, and who gives it to us, so you love the benefactor, the giver. When you feel Gratitude for a friend, you will for sure never forget his face, his name, and if at all possible, you’re going to visit him when he’s in trouble to support him.

When, in the other hand, people forget about the giver, the benefactor, when we through forgetting the gifts we have received become unaware, unconscious of the assistance and support received, we become blind, unfair people… sometimes ready to commit treachery or being dishonest.

If we were to have this big GRATITUDE to nature, we would not destroy it! If we were to have Gratitude to life, we would not waist it in silly ways! If we were to have Gratitude from the many moments of joy and help we have got in Planet Z, we would take care of this forum, one of the best in the world, according to some psychological studies realized over forums around the world.

Yeaaa… we are in “modern” times and the word Gratitude is probably old fashion to some… Well…, for me “fashion” never existed and will never exist, I don’t live by the rules of the world and its time. All on the contrary, I firmly believe in this great LIFE VALUE which is Gratitude. One of the reasons I believe on it is because it is simply fair recognizing people’s efforts, donations, gifts, work and of course, LOVE!!! And because it is an extreme joy to recognize their good actions and feelings supporting the ones who have decided to give, to help, to dare going beyond and love without asking anything in exchange! I love it also because it increases productivity, creativity, life usefulness, beyond concepts of mutual concerns based on egoism and false statements.

Giving is certainly great, but receiving with an open grateful heart it is as great as giving!

We'd be grateful if you'd post some links to those forums.

well, planetZ I think is a marvel of internet self governance. My school in japan has an ongoing research on this topic, and for some reason, it works in planetZ. It doesn't work almost anywhere in japan, but here, it does.

Gratitude is a by product I think. It's a byproduct of being able to understand relative distance, and understanding multiple viewpoints on a matter. Gratitude is a way of being positive about differences, and using those differences in a constructive way. If a child draws a picture of you, that looks like a glob of hair, you say "thank you", understanding the child's viewpoint, and sympathize with the original intent. You can be conscious of the difference in your own viewpoint, and the child's viewpoint, but by taking the time to understand the original intent, you can appreciate the difference.

It's putting the originator's intent over your own expectations and view points. I think that is one way to reach gratitude, which also doubles as a means to multicultural understanding. Gratitude is not giving positive reenforcement to whatever that meets your own personal agenda, so that you will receive more similar feedback in the future. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case in most situations.

The ability of this forum to self govern is unseen anywhere else. (from all that I know) I have told stories of this forum to many researchers of internet self governance, and they cannot believe it. Until they see it. True, it's gotten a lot (I mean, A LOT) sketchy over the past few years, but the basics is still the same. It remains the most creative, intelligent, self regulating, helpful forum that I know of. I do sincerely hope that the transient glitches we have now and then will remain transient, and cause no permanent damage to the community.

In terms of my own thanks towards the community, I can't go far enough as to how much you guys have been an inspiration to me since I've joined. It's like having an extended musical family. I've always thought of any musician here as such, and I feel a very strong connection of the similar sort from many people here. I've written all sorts of strange philosophical topics to rants to just plain dumb posts, that more or less keep me sane. This was esp true when I was in Miami. Bottom line is, I thank everyone for having the brains and guts to keep Z a high integrity musician's forum.

It is so nice to read such a post Ken, thank you for sharing this views and points, great! That is what we need truly, being aware of what we have here

I have saved myself from so many hard times here in the Z, thanks to the advice of you guys. I have learned to build a PC, and “configure” it properly, which is not as easy as it seems when you build a multipurpose-multimedia system. Well… I own this knowledge to reading these pages, as so many others do :)

How many questions have been answered here in the Z? wowwww... so many...

Are you getting a new player and you don’t know which one? Ask the Z!

Are you building a new system but you are not sure about which MOBO to use today? Ask the Z!

Do you feel tired about a bad situation at work? No problem: Ask the Z!

Do you what to show your music so to get advices on mastering, composing, arranging? Ask the Z!

Do you want to get a new MP3 player but don’t know which one has the best sound? Ask the Z!

Everything is answered with good will, and people have solved literally, thousands of problems through all these years.

Planet Z is not only a forum, but a gear hospital, and online friend community, a composition-arranging awareness communion, a newspaper on technology and latest audio inventions, a great club of Developers and extremely smart people who are capable of programming the most incredible plugins of the market, a radio-station with very varied and unique music… well..., so much more, so much!

yeah, it all boils down to just real people talking about real things. Human emotions, human kindness, and human common sense. It's forums that start to become too poser-ish where just like stardust mentioned, becomes not "you" speaking, but your "gear list" speaking, somehow giving you more credibility because you own an awesome SLL microwave or a vintage tube chest hair shaver. It's strange why this happens all over the place on online forums.

The list can be useful, if you're looking for hands on feedback for specific gear. It just gets weird when it completely represents your online existence.

I am glad you decided to come to Las Vegas, I usually know a good bet when I see one.

I only need to know you and your wife's favorite beverage, so that your suite will be stocked properly.

"vintage tube chest hair shaver"

I am truly grateful for the community's ability to self-govern... I take no credit at all for it! (But if big blinky banners would help, I probably still wouldn't do it!!)

I love you guys :)
