a sound track for a friend presenting a ECG based audio installation. Hence "static"-ish theme.

Video will be presented at the National Media Art Festival in Tokyo.

This would be closer to psychedelic trance if you added filter sweeps. I love long filter sweeps.

Too many tricks to choose from... "Tried and true" always works when you consider the inherent deafness of most audiences, eh? :)

Filter sweeps make the boring static character of synthesizer sounds (as opposed to the more dynamic quality of acoustic instruments) com alive.

Don't listen to Paul. He doesn't know psychedelic trance or goa music.

hubird>> lol. don't think I consciously put in NYC juice in there, but now that you mension it, it definitely has a NY aggression to it. hehe.

I don't think I've done a good filter sweep in ages. It'll be something interesting to revisit. Maybe think of more alternative ways to do it.

Tried and true is always an interesting aspect since it fulfills expectations, and sets up foundation to present alternative methods on. I take it as a challenge to do the tried and true, and not be tried, true, and old. Well, I think it's a challenge for any musician. But yeah, as paul points out I agree there's not much point in doing the tried true just for the sake of doing it. It's a means to and end.

I should try some of the stereo filtering stuff. I've had ideas, but never really did it. Sort of like a eq sweep based modulation effect that's sort of like a chorus. I'm sure there's something like that's already been made, but I might as well build one in mod.

How about sending one of the track to a thick and dense reverb and filter that? Try on all tracks and chose the one that sounds best. I believe that might be quite nice and subtle if mixed correctly, no?
