i have a new ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard (not my choice unfortunately) and i have just tried launching Scope for the first time and i get the error message:
"Hardware version 16 detected. This hardware requires a software update. Please consult the installation guide." Click OK followed by:
"Could not gain access to the Creamware hardware."

Is this due to the new motherboard? It only has two PCI slots (the rest are PCI-Express), so i can't really try any other boards.

Also the Windows Wizard tried to install "new hardware" (ie. the CW cards) but failed - would this have something to do with it and how do i get the Wizard to see the cards (i have no CD install)?

the card may be broken(least likely), not properly in the slot, or you still need to install the driver. the motherboard may even be bad.....

possibly the slot is 'hidden' - does it share with something else of the 'newer' interfaces ?
Afaik that message pops up when Scope is started without the card present.

OK, so i reinstalled the drivers (even though it said it had done it) and it all seems to be working. Seems the install only half did its job (no effects, synths etc. either), so i just did those manually. Phew - had a bit of a panic attack there.

I have had exactly the same issue a couple of times, the good news is that on both occasions a re install of the drivers fixed the problem entirely.

Select the driver from your Scope subdirectory when prompted, I think its C:\Scope\Drivers\win2k but its defintitely within the scope subdirectories.

By the way, had you installed the software when the card was in a different slot? Both times i had this issue were when i moved the card from the slot in which it was residing during the software installation.
