I am having great difficulty installing the Elektra, Pulsar 1 & Pulsar XTC into my computer. Whatever I do nothing works. There is always a conflict and an error and my computer always freezes when I move my mouse around. I honestly do not know what else to try besides getting some different cards where I can work with reliability and without frustration. If anyone please has any productive advice where I can get positive results, I would greatly appreciate it. Many thanks to all help provided.

check if on board soundchip is disabled.
check your IRQ settings, the cards can't share (virtual) slots.

go into the bios and disable any unused ports(parrellel, serial onboard sound etc.). install the cards. go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/hardware resources/conflicts-sharing and tell us what is sharing with the scope cards. we'll tell you how to disable the unneeded devices causing the problem.

OK, I have finally physically installed all 3 cards, but not the software (SCOPE 4.0). I have gotten the info needed after installing the cards. Many thanks in advance for all the help in resolving this issue.

this looks good so far, i don't see scope on this list, so...forward.

After installing the software, it seemes as though my problem has been resolved. So far everything seemes to be working normally. The probable cause has been ,disabeling unneeded devices in the BIOS. Do I need to tweak anything in Windows XP for better performance, or leave everything as is? Thanks a million for your help Pro Music Exchange.

As the saying goes, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'

With that said, for all things advisable on Windows XP running DAW, I say MusicXP website http://www.musicxp.net provides some nice tips on tweaking your OS to run optimally as a DAW.

the main tweek is to go to the system properties page advanced tab and press the "settings" button in the performance section. choose "adjust for best perormance" which will turn off all the xp "eye candy". if you do no other change to windows, do this one. the extra visuals eat resources and memory. they are the biggest performace drain on the computer.

I will make this adjustment in Windows XP, and will keep you posted on all results and conclusions. You have been the greatest help. Once again, many thanks Pro Music Exchange!

I currently have 4 x 512 RAM. Would it be a good idea to put 2 x 512 and 2 x 1GIG so that I could get a total of 3 GIG RAM. I read that if I put 4 x 1GIG RAM the MoBo doesnt recognize the full 4 GIG's, it goes half way only. My MoBo is an ASUS P4P800 SE. Many thanks in advance for all your productive advice.

I'm sorry to have to bother you once more regarding my problems with the Pulsar Sound Cards, but I happened to have installed a third sound card and when I went to check the conflicts-sharing, I got the following bellow:

sure.
go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/hardware/conflicts-sharing.

identify the name of the usb controller that is sharing. it will have a name like 2DY3 or EY2D or similar. open the device manager, open the usb directory, find the usb controller with the name on the conflicts-sharing list, highlight it and choose disable. done.

close system information and then reopen it to check that you no longer see the scope card on the list.

Everything goes well until a couple of minutes after starting to work, especially when I'm working in my sequencer. I used Cubase SX3 and switched over to Nuendo 3 and the same problem occurs. I also use GigaStudio 3 in combination.I am at the point of maybe even looking into an alternative to the cards I have because of all these frustrating problems. I truly do not know what else to think or do. I spend more time dealing with problems than with making music. I'm sorry for bugging you with all these problems and thank you so much in advance if you have any solution to another one of my problems with these sound cards.

Maybe I need to get a different computer set up. Maybe you have a good recommendation for a stable computer that I can put together. Many thanks in advance......

What is your midi setup? The midi in the scope cards can flood and cause hanging.
