Rolling Stones street Nijmegen

Yesterday the Rolling Stones did a open air concert in a big park in my town Nijmegen (in quartier Lent).
They often said Holland gets a warm heart from them, 'try-outs' at the start of a world tour are often done in Holland, one of the first (or the first?) concerts outside UK was in Holland in 1964...
Now they did the third concert in 5 years in Nijmegen, tho I didn't go there as it doesn't appeal me.

My father, back in the sixties, often grazed by saying it was all just a short term trend, kind of a cultural mistake :-)
Later my mother told me he had started to feel impressed by Joe Cocker, but it's too late to ask him about that.

Anyway, they signed a street name board with the band's name on it ('straat' = street).
Mick Jagger seemed to be amused by it :-D

It doesn't seem to be for the first time in the world, but it's the first time that they signed one...said the news paper.

Van Morrison had to break off his show after 15 minutes, as a huge thunderstorm with hard rain threatened his gear...
Exactly at 'start me up' it was dry again.

Btw, it was the first time that the concert wasn't sold out, at the gate you could get tickets from black market dealers for half the price.
I guess a period is over, they pull every inch out of it, specialy if you look at... how they look... :-D
(tho we must admit they don't suffer from beerbelts, they look like junks regarding that part).

edit: now I look at it...strange that jagger seems to be that tall...wasn't he just a little guy?

Just in time for that name board :-D
no, I don't feel proud, no I don't feel proud, no I don't ... ;-)

if there'd be any at all, then Keith would be my guitar hero :D
I can only agree with Piddi, having seen the Bridges off Babylon show a few years back, just a couple of meters from that 'crowd platform'.

cheers, Tom

Germany: The rolling stones are selling less tickets than expected. You now can win tickets at 9live tv within a money package.
Much people don`t buy their tickets atm, because they are waiting for the lower prices at the black market.

I also look forward to their next " Final Tour ". But alas, a different final tour from the one in '98 at Shea, which was also another final tour.

They are to be commended for their contribution. When I was a kid I thought every band was from England till I heard Hendrix, and C.C.R.

They have the best hairdressers, and make up artists 4 sure.

I hope to perform as long as they have, and will someday have gray hair too. Who knows in the year 2020 watching the elderly perform might be chic !!

Here in Vegas there are many surviving Do-Wop groups. Frankie Valli stills sings his little ass off too. Remember Sherry Baby ? Walk Like A Man ? It is a blast seeing Ted Nugent, Steppenwolf, Tom Jones, and many others. That's why they call it the musicians graveyard. I wish to die onstage, or have a fine babe on top of me, then give me a Viking funeral where they put me in a boat and light it on fire to sink in the middle of Lake Tahoe.

So It Shall Be Written, So It Shall Be Done,
