Socialism in France

I have read about the economy in France, which is taxing the shit out of their people, and hope that the new candidate for giving it's citizens a tax break is elected.
The move towards a more capitalistic economy would mean that SpaceF, Celmo, and DAS, would get to keep more of the cash I send them.
Afterall, France doesn't have a King anymore, why such steep taxes?
Those of us in the USA always think we have it bad, but that's only when the Democrats come in to fund all of their " Great Society " programs that are moot in terms of actual sucsess.
I pay no state taxes, city, or local here in Nevada, and the IRS really hates that, so they constantly try to punish us with federal income tax, but a good accountant can fix that. I only paid 4500 USD this year, thanks to my accelerated depreciations from buying so much gear. So fuck 'em.
The EURO economy has such potential, if they would just get out of everyones way who is creating jobs, and revenues, and stop taxing their citizens so God damn much money, their economies would not see so much stiffling as it is currently seeing.
If France votes for the conservative candidate who wants less taxes, that's a great start. Hopefully everyone else will watch their economy grow, then the extra spending will create more jobs and further growth.
They even have a 35 hour work week. Imagine the production levels of 48 hours, and the extra overtime cash that would re circulate through their economy.
I bet SpaceF would really make some neat shit if he could afford a new 15 DSP card? Who knows, Celmo might even return. DAS would surely be adventurous as ever too.
Please, vote for change in France, Start a new revolution 4 all of Europe.

Agreed,
Mehdi would email me during his brief sleep walking episodes while making the FAT BASTARD mixers and the FAT CS4's which are quite awesome. But imagine the population working with that kind of zeal. That's why private business, and building / trades unions in the USA have the worlds highest productivity levels, as well as pay.
Vegas booms when conservatives are in office, and crtawl as soon as the democrats get elected. Who wants to work overtime when they don't see it on their checks. Not many I suspect, unless you are working with some hotties like the girls below.
They are just flaggers 4 traffic, but I would be early 4 work every day to hang with those cuties. TYhey take home 1100 USD weekly after taxes. Sure that's a 6 day work week though. But imagine a country's GNP during those feasting periods !!

Here's just one of the 45 high rise towers being built on the Las Vegas Strip. This one is only 64 stories, but I counted 104 tower cranes last week !!
This is a result of private industry being allowed to grow, w/o the burdening of taxes from Government. It's popular to bash Bush, and the Republicans these days, but my house went up 145,000 USD while they were in Congress, and I have had record equipment purchases as well. Good timing I suppose, but when the Dems get back in, if they do, we all stash away our cash, as they will surely start funding their useless " Great Society " programs, which are only symbollic in nature.
BTW, I noticed that the well designed DOKA wall forms are being used all up and down the strip. These are German made, but I guess we use them more over here, as construction is booming. More gigs 4 me too. As 115 new rooms to play are the recent counts.
I hope France gets a taste of economic growth and freedom, they desrve it.

I would just love to see my European brethren have a bigger check to spend on gear.
Las Vegas is an example of non-governmental approach, to letting it's citizens decide what's best for ourselves. We let the government run weekly AIDS tests on prostitutes and stuff like that, as some regulations are nescessary, but don't take our money and spend it w/o consulting the citizens who pay the taxes. Politicians are needed to do our bidding, but when they try to tell us what is good for us, and that we need them to run our lives, I simply say no, we are adults, and can handle ourselves fine, ankyuvarymush.
Did you like the Flagger babes?

just wait until the suburbs in Paris, Lyon etc. start burning...
if you breed an underclass, you will know it.

You just need the tax levels to be even higher, then there is a chance, that it will start to work. I once heard that the US spends more money on prissons than on schools. Is that right? Crazy, if it is so.
Here is another view of how to get echonomy working: Raise the lower class' possibilities of getting an education or othervice raise in socio-echonomic level.
Why work 48 hours a week? If I worked 48 hours a week, I would just earn a lot of money, so I could buy a big 42" plasma TV, that I would turn on as soon as I got home ... after spending all my energy at the job. I would certainly not considder that a gain of quality of life. The day I get kids, I want to see them grow up, and I don't want to be tirred and resting all the time. What the fuck would they need a father like that for? (I am sorry, if I insult people who have no other choice. My standpoint comes from having a choice)
You can not compare Vegas to anything. Vegas gets so much money from forreigners gambling their life and dreams to death.
By the way, I HATE such high buildings. It is really nothing but rich people stealing the sunshine from the people on the street .... just because they can. I really find such big buildings a total lack of respect towards the owner's fellow human beings. Greed, greed and me, me, me ... that is all, that these shadow-bringers represent to me.
And if you think France has high taxes

.... French taxes are nothing compared to the taxes where I live.

Jimmy, you'd better let political questions of this caliber out of this forum. I can feel the pressure boiling on me...
Yankees have oftenly absolutely no idea of what life can be outside their narrowed economical & "philosophical" views.... Money, money, money, buying, working, no social security, carrying weapons, GWB, war on Irak, Mac Donalds, fat people, Co2 emissions, Kyoto, expensive schools, my brothers let dying whlie Katrina was devastating the New Orleans..... So many wounds left open.
Sarkozy = bush, Blair, Berlusconi side. Stupidity at it's best.
This is a red zone.

well, there's some distortion of perspective on either side of the ocean...

I find such points interesting as they reflect 'real-world' receiption and not just the news or TV image of whatever.
My personal 'red-zone' would be any party claiming
the truth...
as a comment to Immanuel's bottom line I can only agree and confirm that it (Danish welfare) actually served me quite well when I spent a few month in a certain area of Copenhagen in the 70s
Europe is in fact not 'that' simple as in Jimmy's post - far more complexity in much less (geographical) space - btw you should have seen my face when I realized that what was presented to us in news as a 'city' affair (the flooding around New Orleans) actually would have set Germany under water from the North Sea to the Alps...

'Yankee' will probably hit him hard, tho
cheers, Tom

I know I'm over reacting Astro, and you guessed it too...

But it is such a sensitiv subject here at the moment. The two opponents we're so philosophically far away that one side has to be bitter now...
As far as Yankees goes, I perfectly know that one can't generalize, and not all americans are stubborn or ignorant. Been there, discovered that. I feel through Jimmy's posts that he is a passionate musician and a sensitiv person
But this neo candid evangelism of the american ideology drives me sometimes mad.
Do you know that France has a special artist and audiovisual technicians wellfare system called "Intermittent du Spectacle". You have to work for 507 hours in ten months, you then get unemployement benefit along the money you get working for the next year.
It allows a lot of creators, dancers, actors, cinema, tv and music technicians & crew to live on their art. That's why there is still a strong french cinema industry (to the contrary of most of the other european countries).
The next french president would love to bury this arrangement (already partially did).
Guess it is the time of the discussion I spill some beer around and talk loud, but I'll pay another round of glasses. Jimmy's next beer is on me.

i too am kind of amused at how Scope4Live seems to think the world would be a better place if it all was just more like Vegas

Where the amount of "freedom" is measured in numbers of skyscrapers.
Less taxes and longer workweeks doesn't neccesarily equate to a better standard of living. (although for sure I too would like to pay less taxes, who wouldnt?)

The Amarican Dream...it's your own fault when you're poor, as everybody has equal chances for a good living - not really tho:-D
If GWB would start another war, against Iran, the financial market would completely collapse, as is predicted by prominent American finance watchers.
If that would happen then be prepared for an American class struggle as never seen before.
Add the long expected earth quake at the south-west coast, the rising of the sea level, and possibly the 600 meter high tsunami caused by that iland to the west of north Africa (I forgot it's name) that will destroy every city on the east coast (something Bin Laden should concentrate on with a nuclear bomb on that Iland, from his (absurd) point of view that is!!), and America has gone...leaving China and India to take over the leading position in the world.
A doom scenario? I don't think so, in about 50 to 200 years it will be a fact, that's my convinction, not my wish tho.
Sorry Jimmy, but there's hope, you could always migrate to that marxistic and totalitary administrated Europe

(don't take my post too seriously

).

Yeah, I should just shut up. It's irrelevant anyway. I just notice strife everytime I leave the great state of Nevada.
We are the last bastion of citizen led government sorry to say. It's not the skyscrapers, that's only the tip. It's the wealth that even my " illegeal " brothas' from Mexico are sharing in. I make more money now, than I ever have in my whole life !! This is the last frontier, and the last gold rush. My heart will weigh heavy when it's over.
When an illegal alien can sell a house he bought for 114,000 USD, and get 300,000 USD, I call that sucsess. I will visit my brotha' Jose in Mexico this fall, and enjoy watching him raise his family on his 50 acre ranch he paid cash for.
I just believe that anyone who works harder than is required, should not be penalized by Government, that's all. We have prostitution still, guns, drugs, churches, small business's. It's all here. The choices are made by the people themselves, which seems to be a strange concept, but what I prefer.
I guess I just wish everyone could understand my devotion to self reliance, and the fruit it bears. Some might work harder, some not. I have always had that fear of failure driving me forward. I have no idea what it would be like to have help everytime I needed it. I wonder if I would have tried harder, or worried less knowing someone would take care of me. My family, friends, and man above are all I have. I guess that's all I need. Hell I won't even see social security, as I am a musician, we don't qualify. I guess when you know you are on your own, you must make provisions for the family, the future, and of course, new gear as always.
If socialism makes my brothas' in France happy, then it's O.K. by me. I was only saddened by the amount of taxes imposed upon my European brethren.
I admire this hard working chap from Poland who just bought 2 x 15DSP cards from me. I know his countrymen must travel to earn a good living, and he has worked his ass off to buy these. It is gentlemen like him who I will fight for. Far from his home in England, he scraped by saving what was left after his taxes beat him up, and still had the drive to buy the kit. That's the kind of drive I speak of. Regardless of the punishing taxes, he still manages to buy gear, and probably eats noodles to buy his kit. I have struggled like that, and trust me, it is fruitage of the spirit that keeps you going.
Long Live Lech Walesa, and all of the other Kings Too !!

I just wanna say ...
It dont matter who you vote for the government still gets in.
seriously .... nothing changes, the agenda continues..I always find it amusing that political parties change their views when they get into power, and just continue with the programs started by the previous government.... and then the other side wins the election and both parties flip their policies on such subjects.ie. The euproope question in the UK...or NAFTA in the US ... there are many more
the USA in principle has a great system (not a democracy, despite constant mistruths by the media, education dept, politicians etc.. its a constitutional republic) However, a once great system is now in ruins, destroyed by power obsessed politicians, media types and the damn federal reserve bank (not a gov organisation, but a private company)
Cmon people .... reclaim your government... Thats why America has a 2nd amendmant.. for when the government goes bad.... and its been rotting for a long time..
Damn all politicians... power to the people...smash the state... and liberation for Tooting
I love/hate politics...
Anarchy... now theres a system I can get behind

Then again, afaik the gap between the rich and the poor is the greatest in the USA from all the modern western countries. It's great that you're making a lot of money, but let's not forget the milllions of people in the US living in poverty, who have very little support from the state.
I definitely agree with you that people should not be punished for working more than they have to, and there are definite problems in some of the european wellfare states with people taking advantage of the social security system, but for the people who actually do need it it's a great thing and I'm happy to pay a little more taxes in order to help those people who may be less fortunate than I am.
Also, most european countries spend a lot more (relatively speaking) money on foreign aid. Again, if this means slightly higher taxes for me, so be it.

yeah abnd just thing about health insurance, when even a leadman can`t afford it.
But hey who cares we`re making the same bullshit here in europe at first we`re about to clean the politcal parties into just 2 conservative ones and than we use ervery thing the tv is capable of to cut down the wages and the social achievements we `ve been glad to have for years.
But hey - I doubt, that sarkozy can act as he promised.

Here in the U.S.A. the infrastructure has been going downhill for years because the Republicans made socialism a dirty word and the Democrats went along with it. Now the roads are falling apart, schools are horrible and getting worse, The electric grid needs an overhaul and health insurance is impossible for more than 40 million people with many others having minimal insurance. I have a $5,000 deductible and my rate goes up every year. We could be fixing these problems but instead we are spending 2 billion a week on war because of a bunch of paranoid xenophobes and now the price of gasoline is double what it was before the war! I can say this because I am a natural born citizen of the United States; PEOPLE HERE ARE MORONS. I can't speak for France and other countries but I certainly don't think it will help them to emulate us. Recently some of our politicians have begun selling our highways to corporations for the next 80 years! Can you imagine this happening in your country? What idiots we are.

I wish we could get rid of all of these currupt self serving politicians around the world, and have a consensus that is by the people, and for the people.
I believe very strongly in our constitution, but lawyers and politicians have bent the laws to serve their purposes, similar to what criminal defense lawyers do.
Braincell is correct about there being many Morons here, but thankfully they are to ignorant to vote, or we would going up shit creek w/o a paddle.
I am for helping those who cannot help themselves, and foreign aid is a very moral cause indeed. But to insure alcoholics, and drug addicts, who have never contributed much in terms of leading a productive life, rattles my cage too much.
But the cost of freedom is never too high a price to pay.
Let's hope our children do a better job of electing officials.
And May My Brethren In Europe Lead Happy Lives,
