System Link

Hi,
has anybody got system link working? -
I'm trying to link my main PC with Scope cards & Cubase to another one with RME Hammerfall HDSP9652 & V-stack via SPDIF, but just can't seem to get any network recognition.....nothing comes up in the 'device' window of the system link page, and Sync just says Offline [I've made sure system link is set as timecode source]
I know my SPDIF connections are working as I can successfully transmit audio between computers.
Many thanks.

To my knowledge system link doesn't like anything between it & the adat i/o's (Scope in other words). So I am not aware of any CW user that's gotten it to work. Meaning you'd have to get a different card to interface with the RME card.

Spdif isn't going to be enough to do any real work with System link anyway just fyi.

Personally I *far* prefer using Bidule (or EnergyXT) on the 'client' computer rather than V-stack, and in that case ADAT & midi are fine. You step back to pre-PDC workflows (record & adjust the start point by hand if necessary etc) but you also dramatically lower your process set buffers (not asio latency but the processing overhead).

Hmm, bit of a disappointment.
Oh well, thanks for your help.
Incidentally, I don't see why spdif shouldn't work in theory as Steinberg claim system link only uses 1 bit of one adat channel...?

hi,
you have to use asio 32bit fixed point source and destination :-) (ASIO 2 32)

Hi Andre thanks - got it working briefly but seem to have screwed it up - have you got it going and if so could you explain your settings to me?
I don't have a ASIO 2 32 dest btw - just ASIO 2 Dest - I presume that's ok?
Also how would this affect Cubase - do you have to run in 24bit mode using those ASIO mods?
Many thanks
