Hi,

I am kinda bored of playing piano all the time and want to do more on the analog synth stuffs. I am going to rock metal music direction.

Can anyone recommend me any virtual analog synthesizer that pretty much suitable for rock metal music?

Thanks.

well, metal's pretty operatic. think Wagner.
brassy sounds are an obvious fit, as are strings for slow sections. try the pro12....

If you want a standard and over-used sound that's the right choice.

If you want to be really versatile and nasty get a Prodyssey, you won't be the second league soloist behind the guitarist. :)

I'm thinking of how metal should sound like in 2007, the Prodyssey can scream, but also get some very authoritarian basses and pads and some really nasty modulations.

Does the Prodyssey ASB require a computer to play live?

for string/choir type pads in metal the most important thing is hold pedal, greatly improves handling of beer while playing ;)
Memorable guitar-like performances were done by Jan Hammer with Mahavishnu Orchestra or George Duke, both using MInimoogs,
Dream Theather guys seem fond of Nord Leads (Sherinian) or Kurzweil K2500 (Rudess), i think for their live expressivness - pitch sticks, morphing, ribbon controllers and such, they use pretty bland if played statically sounds and modulate them with all their limbs while playing.
That would be more progressive side of metal, for stuff bordering with industrial like NIN or Ministry i'd guess a sampler would be a best perfomance tool...

I saw many good reviews on the Evolver synths.

Any thought for this?.......how does it compare to Access Virus?
