This is one of three songs i recorded last weekend for a young band's demo cd. comments very welcome... I know, the timing... and maybe i overdid the mix already ;)

Not really the sort of music I would normally listen to but I am very impressed with the mix. You have all the audio frequencies covered nicely with none of the parts clashing, good panning creating a good soundstage, a nice lively sound. The only citicism, and this is quite a minor one (which shows how good I think your mix is!); I wouldn't pan the cymbals/hats so far to one side as I found this a bit hard going on my right ear! Love the sound of that acoustic guitar. I don't think you over did the production at all. Perhaps beef up the vocals (a bit wimpy for me!) but you have to keep the vocalist happy :) I imagine the band were very happy with this.

... maybe the band exchanged the thinger... ? oops :P
the 'background' is great, but leaves few room for the afforementioned protagonist, imho it's somewhat as if he sticks his head from behind through a wall of instruments, struggeling to get noticed

which only works on fairly good playback gear (like those all-revealing-little-Sennheisers that suck because they are applied almost inside the brain).
With more 'relaxed' stuff like my AKG 301 (or the 'boxy' Roland DS30s) the 'song' has problems to get over.
too much ssss in the voice anyway, but that's not your fault... you'd hide him even more if you'd steal the brightness from the voice.

cheers, Tom
ok, I understand the words, but that doesn't make me completely biased, no it doesn't... I hope he didn't mean your 'price', Roman :D

Hehe, Tom, the money I take is not worth to mention, so he must mean somebody else ;)

I completely agree with your comment, the singer was the most critical part. This is how he sings... In an earlier mix, i put him more on top, more radio playable, but the band insisted for good reason to put him back a bit...

Just got the feedback from the band, it's done! ;)

Cheers and happy Easter!
