Hi guys.
I am every now and then losing system sync.
(Using a pulsar II and a Pulsar I card together)
Fiddlilng a bit with the stdm connector sometimes works, and more often than not, changing where the connector is attached to the pulsar II card, solves the issue.

This leads me to think that there are 3 possible causes:
1. Dirty connection
2. The stdm cable itself
3. Software is not able to initialise and make connection until it is re-connected.

1&2 is 99% likely to be the reason for the issue, in my opinion.. But, I have cleaned all contacts with IPA, but the problem is still the same..
So, I guess I am going to try to get a new stdm cable....
Only, I can't find any dealers here in Norway that has them anymore...

Any ideas as to where to get the cable/can I make it myself/any other ideas or experiences on this issue?

I had the same problem , Could never fix it.
So my answer to you is , buy a USB midi inteface !!!

this is not even related to midi...

Eirikur, do you happen to live at the sea side or in the mountains ?
or in the mountains at the seaside... ?
I always suspected the (chemically) aggressive air in locations close to the sea might have an influence, possibly only with certain type of connectors (not all such plugs are created equal).

as a 2nd option a very slight displacement of the card in the PCI slot can make it loose sync while otherwise operating perfectly. In such a case fiddling with the stdm-cable might have a temporary effect.
If you've completely removed the cards from the slot and then plugged them back in, the latter is not very likely, though.

the connector is a standard card edge connector(crimp on) and the ribbon is standard too. here's the thread with some part numbers: http://www.planetz.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... =make+stdm
i use the cw gold connectors, but any 20 conductor card edge connector will work. i can also make you one if you want, but i'm in the usa, in california so the turn around time and shipping don't really make sense....if you want me to make one pm me, otherwise, you can make one yourself quite easily.
