Lost ASIO when installing M-Audio Protools

Hi all

I installed M-Audio Audiophile firewire interface and Protools software, it worked fine, but it took out Scope asio.

[I had idea of using it on my main PC, to audio edit channels in Protools output from usual Scope mixers, before it goes to PT studio for final mixing]

I uninstalled all M-Audio drivers and Digidesign Protools M Powered, all gone, but Scope asio not coming back. Wave works ok.

Any ideas? I don't want to reinstall all Scope (4) as it takes ages and never works properly; I have all 3rd party and extensions etc.

Is there an 'I/O enabler'?

Many thanks

Yes, but how can I do that without re-installing all of Scope?
I read on a differnet thread of an 'I/O enabler' ...
This is probably a 'doh' moment approaching...

the driver and software are different creatures. reinstalling the software is easy, just run the installer. no reason to uninstall or lose any data. to reinstall the driver, go to the device manager and delete the creamware entries under the "multimedia" heading, restart and windows will redetect the card and ask for the disk with the driver on it and reinstall for you. there are other ways, but that one is pretty straight forward..

Or you can even use the 'update driver' option. Just don't use the online search or local search BS and tell it where u have the driver.

(I have been away on hols)

Did the uninstall / reinstall via Windows Device Manager, and all appears to be OK (although the drivers were OK according to that anyway).

But problem still same, in Live and Sonar 5 (legit versions) I get no Scope Creamware ASIO at all; in the more informative panels of Sonar, they don't appear at all; whereas in Live the Creamware MIDI are there but not Audio.

Should I reinstall Live and Sonar, any tips?

Thanks.

You asked about the I/O enabler above. Based on the pm you sent me you indicated I had mentioned it before in another thread? Not that I remember but...

On my system it is located here: "C:\Scope\App\IOEnabler\IO Enabler.exe"

You can probably paste that into your start>run box if you include the quotes (the exe has a space in the name).

Just to be thorough I should mention that you need to make sure you have ASIO modules loaded in your current project before the ASIO driver will work in your audio applications.

Hello my friends.

Well I have done all, including uninstalling / reinstalling (with reboots) Scope drivers (not all of it), Sonar 5, Live 5.2.2; also deleted Temp folder (to remove any instances of old MAudio drivers)... still same, no Creamware ASIO anywhere.

I have also done this Enabler thing, thanks. But it didn't do anything either. I am not using XTC mode, this is normal audio output from sequencers.

Although Wave works ok.

So at least I can play my ITunes songs!!!

Is next step complete removal of all Scope, and reinstall, which is a right pain as I have all the third party, all extras etc which were a drag to install in the first place.

Any last minute ideas on how to resurrect my CW ASIO drivers???

Since it says they are there and fine? But don't appear in sequencers at all?

Thanks

backup the relevant folders of Scope, and see if a re-install brings back your ASIO :-)

Yes, I am doing that right now... will let you know!

SUCCESS

That was easy in the end...

I renamed my SFP folder 'SFP-old'

(Did NOT uninstall via Windows panel)

Install SFP again using setup.exe

Ran Live, all ASIO back in place.

Renamed just installed SFP folder, 'SFP-new'

Renamed original folder from 'SFP-old' to 'SFP'

(Back to original name, in order to get all the third party plugs back in place)

Ran SFP... all fine, inc. all weird and wonderful plugs.

This took about 10 minutes - I had been holding off as I expected more hassle.

Phew!!!

Thanks all.

And now I guess you are going to do a disk image of your c: drive for backup? :)

Er no.
I back everything up onto a 250 gb drive; it would fit a disk image 160 gb I suppose. Does it need swap space or whatever?

So then I could have switched the disk image back to before the MAudio install?

(except for work files folders)

The disk image would only be as big as the used disk space of the c: drive not the entire physical size of the disk. You haven't got 160 gigs of apps installed on the c: drive have you?? :o

No you don't need to backup swap and yes you could have quickly restored from a pre maudio image. I've been using Driveimage XML. it's free.
