what about a wiki ?

Why dont we create a wiki with links to all devices and their
current versions and suchs ?
We could organise the devices as we want:
- synths
- effects
- tools
- midi
- whatever
I think the smartest thing todo would be to post links to the planetz post of the
device or tool, or perhaps interesting thread.
With the wiki everybody can help edit the content! so if people want to add screenshots and extra content its possible.
So now me wonders what you all think about something like this......... It should definitly be a group effort if it will ever work!!

Ok cool. This is enough positive responds to get me to try some wiki's. I will ask john if he can host it!

An idea: You could try to take inspiration from the standard CW devices' directory. I mean (for example) that "effects" could be splitted into reverb, modulation, delay, dynamics etc... and "devices" into effects, mixer, midi, synths, sampler, modular etc.
This could be user-friendly, expecially for a newbe.

Hi guys,
This sounds like a good idea.
Unfortunately, I don't have much time right now to invest in learning how to install a wiki, etc.
If one of you can lead the project, learn what needs to be learned, then we could possibly host it here...
Cheers,
-John

We've set-up and are using a Wiki at work now.
The one we're using is the 'EWiki' (or ErfurtWiki).
It's open source and PHP-based
Source forge host it here:
http://erfurtwiki.sourceforge.net/
I wasn't involved in setting up it, but I could probably find out a bit more in terms of what's involved. I think some initial tweaking and seeding (of pages) is required before it is properly usable.

I probably won't have that much time to get involved, as I'm barely keeping on top of the maintenance of the Modsynth site, but you're welcome to use all the images on my site to save someone having to go through the process of screengrabbing all the modules again. I'll keep an eye on this thread, and then when the wiki's up and running I'll make the images available somewhere for upload.
Any other material on my site is also free to use, but I doubt there's much there that will be very useful beyond lists of modules, etc.

Ok I have had a go at my first Wiki. Its promising!
I am working on setting up a structure for easy navigation on all pages.
If I figure out how to get java running properly with my cisco pix I'll forward a port those interested can take a look.

update: I found a place to host the wiki!
I will convert the site to the new host this weekend!
You can look at the "default" wiki page and see what you'll be dealing with ::
