Simple problem, please help!

Hi all,
I'm trying to do something fairly simple - record a stereo source via the XLRs on my Scope Pro plus card to an audio channel in Sonar 6PE (for recording). I've managed to get the individual outputs from Sonar to the inputs on the Scope mixer, so I'm guessing this is just the reverse. Here's what I'm doing at the moment:
Scope Analogue Source (L&R)--->ASIO 24bit Des(tL&R)
Doesn't seem to work, I'm not showing any levels in Sonar and yes, I've checked the inputs on the channel options in Sonar and they're set to Scope Stereo ASIO input
ASIO 24bit Source(16xL&R)---------->STM16 inputs (16xL&R)
STM16 Mix Out (L&R)---------------->Scope Analogue Dest
This works like a charm! Each individual channel from Session drummer and a couple of other synths going to a different channel in the mixer! Beautiful.
How can this not be working, and what am I doing wrong?! I'm sure I've missed something obvious, but I'm losing hair trying to find out what that is.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris
