I've been having problems getting Cubase to record from ASIO in 24 bit. When I setup the ASIO drivers in Cubase, I use SCOPE ASIO. It finds the 24 bit ASIO and if I connect them, the self test works. Now, whenever I record something in Cubase, it still says the recording is 16 bit, even though I was recording on 24 bit ASIO. I suspect there is some easy way to fix this and I just haven't found it yet.

I'm using SFP 3.1 and Cubase SX3

this has come up many times. it's a cubase bug. refresh the list or restart the program and it should change. the main thing to remember is that you must have the asio source and dest and the sequencer midi s&d in the routing window with the proper number of channels before opening cubase. that way cubase knows what i/o ports to configure.

be assured that if you have 24bit asio and then open cubase, cubase will be communicating via 24bit.

the "test" is meaningless when using asio. it only confirms wav driver function.

I've tried closing and reopening Cubase. If I record something,then open the Pool and look at a recorded file, it still says that its 16 bit. but if I understand what your saying, even though it says this its 16 bit, it really is 24?

delete the inputs and outputs in the vst connections and then add a new pair. are they 24bit now?

are you sure you have chosen ASIOscope(not ASIOmme) as the driver in the vst setup?

Ok, I deleted the inputs and outputs in the VST connections and made new ones. It says that those are 24 bit, but for some reason it is still recording in 16.
I'm absolutely positive I'm using ASIO SCOPE. In the Devices Setup, it recognizes the 24 bit ASIO under the Inputs and Outputs.

Have you told Cubase to record in 24 bit? Default is 16 bit

Cubase:
Project -> Project Setup -> Record Format

Wow... I can't believe i missed this. I feel like an idiot. It's recording in 24 bit now.

I just have one more question...

It gives me the option to record in 32 bit, and i know my card can't do 32 bit. Is there some disadvantage to useing 32 bit float anyway?

Scope can do 32 bit. Use the flt ASIO modules.

why the pathetic story that you exchanged all your electronic gear in favour of acoustic flamenco guitar only ?
you do not really want challenge a Scope card with an M-Audio ...

SignusX1 hadn't set-up Cubase to record 24 bit, nothing to do with the Scope card. Suggesting splashing out more cash is not really the solution.
