'timout waiting for acknowledge dsp 0'

Hello,

I came across this very good offer; a Pulsar 2 w/ Mix 'n master and Synths 'n sampler bundle + a Luna card for just USD 425. My intension was to expand further my Luna II & Pulsar I system by adding the this third card and the huge software bundle. STDM cable came with it.

So, I installed the Pulsar II driver from the drivers folder in the Scope 4.5 download, and everything seemed fine. But, when trying to start SFP 4.5 I got the message 'timout waiting for acknowledge dsp 0' and SFP failed to start. Next I tried to uninstall SFP, but that also failed due to the same message.

So, I removed all three cards, and attempted to install Pulsar 2 only. But the error code kept apperaring - 'timout waiting for acknowledge dsp 0' (error code 0004).

So, having read a few posts on the same topic here at Planetz, I get the impression that the card is dead  - am I right?

Regards

Neb

not sure about #0004 but I've seen at least 'timeout waiting...' messages occasionally here on install, but no card was damaged - obviously it can happen if things are messed.
On the other hand - was the card from eBay - sold as is, without software, untested , 'no idea about it...', found it on the attic... etc ?
Then there's a good chance the seller wants to 'protect' himself from later complaints.
I've recently bought a dead cheap Pulsar 1 (declared as probably damaged - DIYs only).
It works perfectly as a DSP extender, but under good lighting conditions it's clearly visable that someone had soldered on it at several places.

Inspect it visually, is there leakage (kind of white dust) around electrolytic capacitors (small blue or black colored cylinders) or are some of them bulky ? These parts are the ones that have to stand the most wearout due to heat emission - fortunately they are cheap and easy to replace.

cheers, Tom

Thanky you for your input.

The card is tested by the owner and shold be ok. I have not paid yet, I am allowed to test it before I buy.

I Just spoke to the seller. He has only activated the card for Scope 4.0 and I attempted run under 4.5 and after that tried to clean install 4.5. Could it be that this causes the error message?

Hm, thinking loud here - On the other hand, after uninstall and attempting to reinstall 4.5 under ONLY the Pulsar 2, I never get to the step where I register allkeys file, so there should not be any control mechanism active that disqualifies the card from running.

Hm ...

if the other cards are registered to 4.5, the new one doesn't need to be. you only need one key. the software version is not the fault.
