Old Prophet Patches - wav to midi file conversion?

Ok for some of you tech heads in here with brains bigger than the size of the known galaxy.
There are various places where Prophet 5 patches can be downloaded or bought. These are in wav format (as good old cassette tape backups used to be).
Has anyone tried converting the wave files (they sound like a modem!) into appropriate midi messages or Creamware Patch Bank information. As a principle this data was always digital, just as a fax machine is a digital scanner and the information used to be converted into digital data in the synth. The hard part would be taking the appropriate signals/frequencies and mapping to the PRO-12.
We can then delight in loading original patches from the original machine!
Or am I asking for just too much (again)! All hail to the tech heads!
