CAPO SE-70 (guitar multieffect insert module) - FINAL!

Hi, here my (simple but, I think useful) device based upon the Boss SE-70 multieffect array.
It's built to becomes a good common start point to create a STANDARD "preset file" for more complex/complete Dynatube based setups.
Obviously the array written on the right is only a (branded ;) ) suggestion... so if U need U can use it as a simple insert device.
I think that this DEV is useful for Scope OS but almost fundamental for XTC usage.
Remember that is possible to insert other istances of similar "insert hosts" like i.e. my "S->M->S Insert FX" http://www.planetz.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... 903#164903 (for 2 parallel dynatube istances), etc. (browse for these existent devices in PlanetZ device tread)

If U will share your SE-70 presets, please, remember to list into info patch all "non standard & commercial 3 part" used devices like i.e. SpaceF, Zarg, Celmo, Wolf, DAS, etc.

ps. "Capo" in italian means “Head” and "Boss"... :D

ps2. many thanks to Salvatore for the kindly (and fundamental!) "workshop" and cooperation for the SDK ;)

See ya :)

Final version:
- circuit optimization
- Scope mixer insert mute issue fixed
- mono/stereo issue finally fixed
- added midi cc for all parameters
- added useful info text
- fixed enhancer insert box bug
- added some start example presets
- gate insert placed at first place

Some hints about correct usage:

- if you use only L in for guitar, switch on the M/S button to obtain a duplication of mono signal in both L/R channel of the rig.
- keep in mind that you are allowed to load STEREO effects before MONO effects in the rig, but, obviously, they works as mono because the "bottle neck" of the last MONO effect. After the last MONO FX all stereo effects remains stereo.

Nice idea by the way :-D

Might have to pull out my old SE-70 and try and copy the effects - that would be cool.

Nice idea! :)

Does the mono/stereo button work properly? If yes, then I don't get it.. Could you explain what it does exactly? Thanks :)

P.S. What I mean is that I expect a Mono plug-in in a mono insert to give me the same signal out of both speakers. A mono plug-in, no matter if the mono/stereo button is pushed or not, gives me a signal only on the left speaker... I hope you see what I mean...

great idea!
suggestions:
i always thought the gate should be the first insert in the chain.. otherwise you would, for example, distort also background noise.

Um, what U say is right and logical... but in Boss SE-70 the noise suppressor/gate comes in this point of array... it's really strange.
Anyway U can put your gate in the first insert: the taxt at the right is only a suggestion.

After some tests with many plugins I must rethink the mono/stereo routing... with certain stereo plugs I can obtain only left channel or a high left + a low right... maybe I should put a switch mono/stereo combined with the choice mono/stereo plugin.
Tomorrow I will fix this issue.
Thanks ;)

ps. a stange insert bug in the "enhancer" insert box... I can't see the root with plugs! :o

Who uses 15 effects in series? (ok I'm not a guitarist, nor do I pretend to be)

Maybe it's not intended to be used all at the same time. I think it's simply confortable to have all the effect already loaded, so the user have only to tweak the parameters of the few effects he need in that time. :-)

Bravo erminardi! :)

I just want to tell you that there is still some peculiarity regarding the mono/stereo button. There is still a bit of a problem, but the good news is that there is a work-around! :D

I still get a left-speaker only sound when I load mono effects in the Gate insert slot. I have not tried the others, but I guess that they would behave in the same way as the first slot. In order to have a (mono) sound out of both speakers, and not only the left one, one must enable one (whichever) stereo button. You dont have to load an effect at that slot, just any stereo button will do! ;)

That's it! Thank you very much erminardi for your work! I am going to post some presets too. Let's all exchange presets, now that it is very easy to do with this device :)

Any suggestion for Se-70 improvement is welcome.

I was tinking about a VU meter for every insert slot output because some basic plugs lacks of volume monitoring (it's easy, in this way, to achieve clipping along the array and it's hard to find where...).
But I actually don't know how to make the switching interface for every pressed button. Maybe is enough a red overload-led near every insert slot...

Note that U can control all parameters (SE-70 & insert FX) with a Midi pedal or controller, it's a really nice feature.

Mh, still a issue in this array... I think that is not possible to routing in this manner... I should think about a solution.

Thanks erminardi for this device!

I hope I can post some dt preset soon using it.

Just a couple of probably stupid questions:
Remember that is possible to insert other istances of similar "insert hosts" like i.e. the 2 mono channel insert in a stereo path (for 2 parallel dynatube istances), etc. (browse for these existent devices in PlanetZ device tread)
I have found a few of these fine insert devices, but I was unable to find the 2 mono channel insert . :(
Could someone post a link?

The other question is about how to turn on and of one of the inserts using a footswitch. When I press the footswitch I get velocity = 0, and when I release it, I get velocity = 127. I can also invert the values using cyprox.

With this, I can turn on an insert when I press the footswitch, but I have to keep it pressed or the insert turns off.

What I would like to do is to step into the footswitch once to turn the insert on, and then to step another time to turn it off.

How do you guys get that working?

As an improvement, what about substituting the list of suggested effects by something editable, with the existing list as default, but allowing the user to change the labeling to whatever one ends up putting there?

It is not that useful if you insert a single effect, since you can already read the name of the effect in the insert slot, but it would be great for the cases where you want to nest several effects in a single insert slot using one of the insert helpers. For example, you could have an insert named "boost" where you place a regular multi-fx containing a peq and an overdrive.

Hey, another suggestion I thought of:

The ability to have a few effects loops that can be placed anywhere in the insert chain, so that external effects (e.g. real stompboxes) can be integrated.

E.g. one could setup a chain as follows:

1- Gate/expander
2- eq
3- external wah
4- external dirtbox
5- dt
6- eq
7- compression
8- delay
9- reverb

I think that would make for the ultimate guitar rack!
