A 1.9GB Quantum Leap Freebie

As the topic says i just stumbled upon a 1.9gb freebie from EastWest that contains a couple of Quantum Leap samples. Mac or PC package.
INCLUDES NATIVE INSTRUMENTS "KOMPAKT" PLAYER (limited to playing the included samples only).

It contains the following samples (simply copy-pasted from the address for convenience):

EASTWEST/QUANTUM LEAP SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA (PLATINUM AND PRO XP EDITIONS)

Each of the Platinum programs has three mic positions. Close, stage, and surround. Included are the five concert toms, a six piece Marcato French Horn section, and the QLegato Viola section.

A large set of orchestral concert toms. Single head with characteristic orchestral ringing tone.

6 french horns playing big, dynamic, accented notes. 1 second duration plus ambience.

Is there any hope of extracting the samples out of the Kompact format? (Not familiar with it, are they just regular wav's with header info used by the sampler?)

I don't think you can, you have to use the player the sounds come with, there are some pretty good sounds there, even just to try out, the price is right. :)

I don't really know (yet). But i just found out about the software Extreme Sample Converter http://www.extranslator.com/. And according to their list of supported formats http://www.extranslator.com/formats.html It may be able to convert the samples into a more convenient sample format. I haven't tried it yet though. I'll get back on this issue.
