In germany you can't make a living on good music - exception: you are already a star with an enormous marketing. It´s probably the same in other countries - only makreting by personality counts.

My favorite source of free music is
here
Its a site of weekly competitons, writing songs to a set title. Its great. The music is often not as polished and finished as longer productions (which also happen at this site) would allow, but the ideas are sometimes great.
The fact that it is open competition however sometimes means that complete crap gets mailed in along with the gems. But it is always fun and there truky are some great musicians here. The quality of the weekly competitions vary, this week its a pretty good run. And theres an archive of some 5000+ songs.
Some exellent artites here.
Check out this weeks competitors, maybe vote on your favorite. Or enter next week and teach them youngsters a lesson in audio production.heheh.
