someone else mentioned to me the sun/earth will be passing thru "galactic centre" somewhere around 2012, that could influence tempatury on earth.

- wouldn't that involve our system travelling a heck of a lot faster than light to get there??

there wouldn't be a 'passing through galactic center', at least not in the form of existance we're aware off - there's a black hole (supposed to be) at that location

if I remember right at winter solstice 2012 the axis earth-sun is perfectly aligned with the galactic center...
the fascinating fact (there are countless pages about the subject) is that the Mayans predicted (by calculation) exactly this position about 2000 years ago, up to an amazing precision - it's the date when their 'calender-of-all-times' (so to say) ends

people make lots of trouble no doubt.
there are also a number of natural sources of trouble that are beyond any human activities.

there are long cycles of drastic climate change(140 million years), but there are also shorter cycles(10,000 years and 500 years among others) which although minor on the cosmic or even global scale, are extreme and deadly by human scale.

for some reason, those in charge want to blame the public for all of it, even though the public only consumes what it is fed.

Like most things, this climate issue is both true and false.
Guess the climate would have been verry equal if mankind, where cows or whatever.

I'll say one thing for sure, it really is uncommonly mild (and damp *squelch*) in the UK at the moment. I don't think we've even had one night's frost yet in the West Country! Walking around in a T-shirt in December?! Pretty odd stuff.

Very windy too, lots of trees blown over, boats destroyed and roofs ripped off (by a tornado apparently) over the last few days.

yep, in the 1600s during the mini ice age happening then you'd be frozen. there's no doubt that climate change occurs.

Fair enough, but 'those in charge' do not seem to be pushing the supposed threat, but denying it. In fact, those who are accused of using communism, terrorism, etc, to scare and cajole their populations, seem pretty united in their denial of human-caused global warming. Or did I miss something?

I think it would be enough to see the survival on earth in confortable conditions as an ambitious enough 'enemy'.
And I agree, this does not fit the individual interests.

nope. wrong on all counts. who owns all this media and who funds it? most research is done by u.s. and european space agencies and also grants funded by dutch royal shell and standard oil of ny(the guys keeping alternative fuels from happening!). officially, the governments deny it, while publishing reports that it's happening. it's all about control. people's inability to see that the reasons things happen are much different from any logic they can imagine will be their downfall. people are called useless feeders, consumers and other bad names by the elite. the elite(including all royals) have called for an 80-95% reduction of population(which english prince said that he'd like to be reincarnated as a virus that kills off almost everyone?). that can't be accomplished without some reasons. those in the highest positions have escape plans(whether or not they are completely crazy).

is this even better raving Stardust?

Terrorisme is top priority these days, so the Kyoto agreement has fallen to a lower priority level.

Senseless. It began for about 30 years . Since then there have been only minor attempts to do something for the environment. Including a world wird image (smear) campagne in the 90s which stated that everything is fine. It´s not. But its absolutely too late. So we better get us a new planet or developping us by genetech.

if there is excess CO2, this fuels plant growth.(plants live on that stuff) with more flora comes rapidly falling temperatures....
