well, I got a everyday picture of a friend of mine who took a shot of himself in a mirrow.
I took a cut of his face as close as possible, and made a lot of variations of it in Photoshop.
Some of them, up to nine, I put together in one window and gave it a border.

I then treated the result as a new single picture, processing it in Photoshop again, and found some interesting results.
At least, that's what I hope it is

The last processing hides the differences between the 9 composing pictures to some degree.
F.e. the upper-middle one has some vague circles around the face, the middle-lower one looks like it is painted on a brickwall.
Despite the egalisation effect, the pixel variations still lead to different processing results 'per photo', which keeps
the overall result interesting.

The horizontal grooves in the second and in the last picture must come from a bug in some filters under my
current temporary OS9 system, as I never got that before.
I'm thankfull for that

I love the Planetz background, it just fits all pictures!

religious icons...yes, I had that religious association also, with the blue/purple ones at least.
Therefor at the end I played with some 'back lighting' effects on them, as if it were painted glass windows with incoming light.

I was looking for ways to melt the 9 pictures together.
Obviously geometric distortions is one way to get this, but I didn't really want to change the form of the composing pictures (except with the 'globe' one).
So I found out that (sometimes multiple) geometric distortions, applied to non-form-determing factors like color, saturation and huy, are perfectly appropriate to glue picture parts together.
I got 'colour waves' and related structures throughout the picture, with sometimes unexpected side effects like the circles in the 4th pict.

If I was an art painter i would try to copy-paint the pictures

why would you ?
they don't get better that way
you just have to sign them
if only one of each with signature exists and a famous collector/museum/gallery decides that you got talent, revolutionarary insights and the way to change our all's perceiption of reality, then (and only then) you'll become rich and famous (for that stuff)...
'quality' - in whatever context you may imagine - is neglectable

it's too easy to forge them...you only have to deal with the signature, not the whole picture which can be scanned (to print it the same).
Anyway, the original files are big enough to enlarge them to an adult painting format...you wanne buy one?
I'll sign it, on both sides if you want
(#1&4 are the most expensive ones, you'll understand that).

I bought an richly illustrated compact book about Him two weeks ago (Klaus Honnef, Taschen, in translation), at the dump store, you probably know the series.
When I was about organizing the composing 9 pictures ( I got 36 of them!), I was tempted to organize them more freely and more repetetive, with overlaps etc., like he loved to do.
In the end I stayed with my initial concept of 3 times 3, which had it's adventages
Like:

In picture number 4 there's kind of a (religious) cross figure showing, which fits the burnt-painted glass looks of the image.
The geometric trick in number 5, the globe, works best with one face exactly centered, which is what you only get with 3 times 3.

Too much symmetry for mr. W.

At the same time, with the other pictures I had to find ways to make the hard transitions between the 9 pictures more fluid, as said before
The horizontal and vertical disturbing grooves I created you can also find back in The man's overlaps of the repeted pictures.

Eh, I knew what I was doing

It's hard to avoid thinking his name as soon as you put together more than 3 instances of the same basic picture in one shot
Maybe I should take the face of Saddam Hoessein next time, with open mouth being inspected by the medical man.
Or...


(edit, I changed the globe one by making the globe part bigger than the (original) border, to get it 'loose(r) from the 'background')

the contours of Holland shine throught picture 6 now
The picture was too flat, I thought.
The globe got a shadowed left-side.
And #7 got a bit more complicated colour settings, some frosted athmosphere is in it now

looking longer at the pics #4 is almost moving in itself ... and the cross starts slightly glowing as you recogize it's structure - good one
