This is a mixer, 8 mono & 8 stereo inputs and much more ... read above :
It is partly controllable via a Behringer BFC 2000 (other interface comming surely ...)

This was designed to use as a combination FOH mixer, and a Monitor mixer all in one. Since I have a sponsor I needed to have a design up and ready for 2007. Next year we will all be seeing VST mixer DAW's used for live performance, but I wanted to see SFP in the running. DAS has filled that void rather quickly, and to great effect.
I researched the hardware world and came up with a good rack that would have worked nicely which consisted of a Crest Audio XR-24 ( FOH ), and a Crest Audio XRM ( Monitors ), and the external hardware effects would have been a Lexicon 480L, Lexicon PCM81, w/ various compressors / gates / limiters, etc. The mixers alone were 5775 USD. The 2 Lexicons used were 4600USD, and the other hardware totalled 3500 USD. Then I thought that I would dream a little about an SFP DAW w/ the same FX. Although the hardware version was expensive, it would have paid itself off in 12 weeks, which is my percentage off of the production after 3 months work, but it was a very good sounding system through 4 powered Mackie SRM 450's. The DAS SFP DAW came to be one tenth of the price, and with the RMX160 and other FX from 3rd party developers I took the soft way.
I have only demo'd one channel w/ a Behringer ADA8000, and a Beta 58. The sound quality is excellant, but I knew that. The routings, and the ability to use wireless ear monitors were what this was designed for. GaryB is on his way up in a couple of days for a thorough testing. We will use SFP only and post all results on the Z early next week. This will be the first of it's kind, and I plan on knocking down some walls with this beauty.
Thanks For A Great Job DAS,

looks very very promising. sure this is custom built, but is the design expandable? I could imagine to have more mono inputs, let's say 12 or 16.
can you post a picture of the input channel to aux bus assignment window? and will there be mute groups? hell, if we can make a way for that at this (early?) stage...

if I expect this to be organized like a conventinal mixer, I would connect mic inputs to the mono channels and line equipment like e-piano, drum module etc. to the stereo line inputs. these channels types have typically different eq sections and function buttons like phase reverse (ok, we can exclude phantom power here) and pad. I also like to have my mic channels in ONE window/view and not to switch the view when forced to use the stereo ins for additional mic inputs. I could even live with less stereo line ins, but don't want to be limited to 8 mono inputs, unless you can split them to be mono ins with all their characteristics, and have them all in view within one panel. can you roughly get my point?
maybe it's all possible already, but there is not much information yet.

every thing is possible , for sure
just pm me and tell me how much could you spend (in euros or usd) in such a device
cheers

My guess is Kylie is discussing the (general) logics in design of a typical dj mixer, not asking for specific and personnal wishes for a newly desired own one

not too bad, hubird

well, after all, this babe is called modular mixer. so why shouldn't I expect another 8-channel input block to be added not a big thing?
you can get several live consoles in different versions (16/24/32/40), and that seems to be the only difference (yes, the chassis frame is bigger, too).
mute groups is a different topic. this would be probably a custom wish of mine, but well... I cannot afford a real hardware mixer having this feature, so maybe I cannot afford a dsp driven software version, having that, too. this is something called "nice to have" for me, I won't die from not being able to pay DAS what they surely deserve..

this is indeed a mighty one, but I'm not really sure yet how good it performs in a live situation. not technically in general, but concerning the overview. I'd prefer to have it tested by those who have already access to it. since it is custom built for them it's not really up to me to decide which feature is useful, which not, and what is missing.
I can nevertheless continue to tell you my opinion, if you like...

is this mixer doing something unmade able to be done manually with a basic mixer and routing upon demand?

This mixer was made 4 live, as in my name. UE wireless 3-ways, 5 pairs, one engineer instead of 2. This dog will hunt. Stay tuned for test results on stage. I have faith in Olive, or I would have bought the hardware.
