NI Battery Upgrade "Strategy"

Hrumph!
Upgrade cost Battery 1 -> Battery 3 : 99 euros
Upgrade cost Battery 2 -> Battery 3 : 99 euros
I've got the hump about this, I've already paid them 99 euros to upgrade from Battery 1 to Battery 2! So, somebody who supports their product has to pay double the upgrade path price?!
I have sent NI a query about this, to see if they're willing to change their pricing strategy.
(Aside: Steinberg are effectively doing the same thing; upgrading to Studio 4 is the same price from either SL1 or SL2. Makes you wonder why you bother innit!)

Obviously they've got some moronic moneymen working out their prices (especially in Steiberg's case). I mean, who's gonna upgrade from SL1 or SL2 to 'Cubase Studio 4' for £100 (149euro) if it's not gonna change the cost of a full upgrade to Cubase 4. Seems ludicrous to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

I think we're both missing an "evil upgrade pricing strategy"

Yeh, missing it, as in not getting invoved in it any more. SX2 does the job we need it to. Well, for this decade anyway. ;)

*bumps thread*
Huzzah! A response from NI:
"I'm sorry, there\'s nothing I can do for your. Prices are not an issue that I can
discuss with you. It's up to you if you take the advantage to update to Battery 3 or
if you leave it. "
Ooh goody! I can "take advantage" of paying 198 euros to upgrade rather than 99. Seems to me that the advantage is NI's rather than mine.
*shrugs* Ho-hum, NI have lost a customer then. Shame, I'd have liked to check out Kontakt and Absynth at some point, but that's not going to happen now.
I shall inform them of my opinion

I updated my B1 to 2 with the NI-versary offer for 50 euros, the offer ended 10 sep 2006.
Shortly later B3 came out.
Upgraders like me to 2 were offered to upgrade to 3 for 50 euros.
Not bad at all.
cheers

of course!

I admit the NI versary move isn't regular pricing policy.
but didn't you get the upgrade emails from NI?
And after I got the mail I almost knew for sure a new Batterie version was to be expected.
So in fact I was pleasently surpriced with the 50 euro offer to version 3 for the recent upgraders!

Not that I can recall...I do receive some emails from NI, but the last that I can remember was all about their 'KORE' product.
I'm not massively bothered really; Battery 2 has the features I thought were lacking in Battery 1, namely hard disk streaming and filters.
