hello all pulsar users
let me start with my system spec: 3 gh"z p.4, ddr2 533 mh"z mem,geforce6200tc,and a 945pneo motherboard.
i have a pulsar 1 card...my x-computer was half the power of this one but was working smooth, but on this monster of a computer' my computer freezez every now and again.. i did all the tests...all the fans r working- there is no over heating or dust. mostly the computer gets stuck when cubase is working or when i only change the pulsar settings.
i dissabled the built-in soundcard.. and things semmd to be improving but then i found out that my puksar is sitting on irq 16 along with 4 other applications
IRQ 16 Intel(R) 945G/P PCI Express Root Port - 2771
IRQ 16 NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache(TM)
IRQ 16 Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio
IRQ 16 Intel(R) 82801GB PCI Express Root Port - 27D0
IRQ 16 Intel(R) 82801GB USB Universal Host Controller - 27CB
IRQ 16 Creamware Pulsar
could this be the proablem??
could it be a bad psu or the geforce?, or maybe the memory?
man!!! its been a long time with this proablem!!!!
please try to help... i will give any extra unfo if nedded
thank you so much!!!

try changing slots and then check to see what is shared. the shared irqs are likely the problem, make sure you disable any non essential peripherals in the bios to lessen the chances of sharing occuring..
high def video driver? why?
one other possible cause, if you change the type or number of channels on the asio modules in scope while cubase is open, that will result in a freeze. asio modules can be connected or disconnected anytime, but they must be present in the project with the proper number of channels before scope is opened. since you already had a working system, i assume you know this, but just to be safe i'm mentioning it.

garyb, can you explain more about the ahanging asio settings?
if i have a cubace project...( closed) and i change settings in the scope platform- do i need to change somethying in the cubace project when i open it?
by the waY , im using sx 2, whice worked great on previos comp
thank you

no, you shouldn't need to change anything in cubase because you change the number of asio channels in scope, cubase just needs to be closed.
i'm assuming that you are using the ASIOScope driver in cubase....
you need to fix that irq situation first.

hi
i changed the slots and now this what weve got
IRQ 18 Intel(R) 82801GB PCI Express Root Port - 27D4
IRQ 18 Intel(R) 82801GB USB Universal Host Controller - 27CA
IRQ 18 Creamware Pulsar
this is better, but no. cubase still frezzez. .
i use the 4.0 drivers, and i do use them in the cubase device setup.
i did a memory test, and its fine..which is a good thing
any ideas?
thanks garyb, and neilb

you're not done yet.
try the third slot and report. i can tell you what to do then.
just take your time and get it right, then you won't have to worry for a long time.

hey garyb
whereever theared good for you is good for me.
the 3 slot has a big nasty chip(well its not so big ) that blocks the entry of the pulsar card!!!
@#$@$%
ohhh by the way my chipset is this
Intel® 945P Chipset
- Supports FSB 533/800/1066MHz.
- Supports PCI Express x 16 graphics interface.
- Supports dual channel, DDR2 400/533/667
• Intel® ICH7 Chipset
- Hi-Speed USB (USB2.0) controller, 480Mb/sec, up to 8 ports.
- 4 SATAII ports with transfer rate up to 3Gb/s.
- 1 channel Ultra ATA 100 bus master IDE controller.
- PCI Master v2.3, I/O APIC.
- ACPI 2.0 compliant.
do you know if it works with pulsar 1?
thanks
daniel

i just got an answer from the guy at pulsar suport, he thinks that i need to upgrade my pulsar 1, it dont fit anymore with new mobo's

well, a new scope project would be a great thing, the newer cards work much better than the old, but if you want to try to get the pulsar1 going before you
add a new scope card, i can tell you where to start(when a new and old card are mixed, both share in the newer card's improved architecture. the old card just augments the new one).
or come back when you upgrade and i'll help you get set up, but either way, you'd have to follow instructions...i don't like typing and i only want to do it to help you.
if you want to start fixing your problem,
leave the card in the new slot. go to start/settings/control panel/system/hardware/device manager/universal serial bus controllers and find "Intel(R) 82801GB USB Universal Host Controller - 27CA ", right click and choose disable. test.
let me know what happens and we'll check the next possible problem. possibly this first step will eliminate all your problems, if not we can track it down, there may be a few things to correct.

well, i disabled it
i noticed this things: when i have the pulsar project running(the on i sent you)
things get stuck... but when i use the defoult pulsar project-if you want i can send you that one too- all runs smoothley(well , not smooth but much better)
does this bring us back to something wrong with the card?

no.
please go to system properties and tell me what is now sharing with the scope card.
are you using a midi controller with cubase on the project that doesn't work? can you post a screenshot of your project ? the last version was a file i don't recognize. just hit the "print screen" button and then open paint and paste from the clipboard and save as a jpeg or bitmap.

don't nail me down on my memory, but isn't it either Wave(16) OR Wave24 bit ?
cheers, Tom

im sorry ' whats that now??

Astro means, the wave in/out modules come in different tastes, and you should use only I/O modules of the same family - if that isn't the case

allrighty then, but i have the same wave source\dest 24bit.
buy the way, do you see something there (in the connections) that dosent seem right?
like the asio dest 2 ... why 2? whats wrong with 1?
i know some of my questions seem silly- but - the slower the student, the better the teacher. or something
its not a real saying, just made that up.
but it could be!!!!
be well , dear friends

by the way , when changing the asio dest and source to - " asio dest" and "asio source"- (no 2 or 1) things are cakmer with the frezzing.
any idea why?
thanks
