is ithis a good way to work?

write and record all tracks in sx,burn everything down as audio,do all the automation in vst then send the individual audio tracks to the creamware mixer to do the final mix?

im just trying to work out the best way for me to work

can you do automation in the creamware mixer?

how does everyone else work?

that's one of the possible ways to go, yes, it's what I do also :-)
The workflow depends of course a bit on what you are doing.
Recording a band life leads to a different workflow than making elektronic music and recording VSTi-s in SX.

Any combination is possible, you can f.e. apply some effects in SFP on tracks while actually recording them in SX.

Don't use export-audio, record realtime through SFP via ASIO back to SX :-)

ah good,i wasnt sure if that was the best way :D
is it possible to do automation ie:aux sends (on the creamware mixer)

i cant see anything on the mixer that would do this?

ive actually managed to work out most of the routing ,xtc etc

its just the little things.....

by the way,i love the mixers on creamware, remind me of a proper console.

i used to have an 01v and i really miss it,and this is more like it:)

vst mixer is a bit pants by comparison,if i can get automation halleluhya!!!!

You can assign midi CC to faders and knobs of almost anything midi connected in Scope, the mixer has to be connected to the midi source, given a midi channel and then it can receive CC from the sequencer or a controller...The manuals explain it well..

yes.

well, yes because scope is essentially external hardware as far as cubase is concerned even if xtc mode's routing and graphics make it appear to be inside cubase.

you mean the Steinberg automation, as opposed to cc# controll?
On my old Cubase:
Click the Record (and Read...) button at the leftside on the mixer or mixer's channelwindow (not the regular record button on the start-stop panel).
An 'automation' track will be laid down.
Move the knobs of your choice, they will be recorded in that track, and can be edited to some degree.
De-click Record when ready.
Don't scissor-cut that track, or it will loose yhe looking-back feature from that point :-)
If you mute that track and press the automation-Record button again a new a. track will be created.
Recording automation will take place in the upper a.track, if you have more than one active.
More a.tracks are handy if you need to edit specific params :-)
cheers.
