Thanks, very interesting and absolutely honest prices range.
Just a question: the "all plugs" bundle meant all actual list of plugins or include some future relase/update? (I still remember, in example, the DaDEV bundle policy...)
Regards.

I agree, if the plugs aren't free, they should be cheap to reep the benefits of potential mass buyers & distribution.

It's a solid business model proven by the underdog supermarkets selling fake ham.

I think (just my theory) the delay of the pricelist is caused by clearing up things with creamware for copyprotection etc.... I think Creamware will influence the price of the products when they sell it with a key.

I don't know any other possible copyright-protection. Maybe stamping a name in each sold device?
I bet this causes the delay.

to be honest, when a plug is cheap, let's say 69 €, you can afford a plug in quite every month... Once you reach 100 €, we all think about it before using the VISA card...just my opinion...

Yeah, if the price will be around 70eu, the copy protection is unnecessary...I think the people will prefer the possibility of the access to the user pages and download the updates or the goodies for the customers, instead remain apart like thief!

I have 2 SCOPE separate systems (1 host PC, 1 synth PC) in the same room linked via ADAT/LAN. I really hope that I can use my new Digitalaudiosoft plugins without buy they 2 times!!!
Now I've M'n'M in one PC and S'n'S in another PC, sometimes I must transfer the audiofiles from one to another PC because the needed plugin is not available in the card/PC that I use... this sucks!

erminardi you are so right, spot on in fact!!

It totally sucks having a plugin registered to 1 card if you own several. We have 4 cards & I know plenty of folk here have more than 4. The best plugs are the ones which are not copy protected by board registration imho.

Btw, does anyone know which 3rd party plugs/devices are not protected by single board registration & can run on any CW card?

if someone spends 200 hours on a certain developement and considers his hourly rate 50 Euro, then the product is supposed to cost 500 Euro if no more than 20 are expected to be sold
Ok, I'll take you up on playing with the figures Tom.

Pricing the product at 500 euro (for say the whole DAS pack in this case) would be the 'reason' for only 20 being sold. (Although, I'd imagine these guys may well sell more than that based on their 'low-ish' pricing strategy.)

Now to get the same return, they'd only need to sell 100 copies of the 'whole' pack for 100 euro each, which is entirely plausable & would put them into a nice place in the Scope market due to their customers being happy getting plugs at bargain prices. I really do believe that 100 packs could be sold at 100 euro each & if you had to add to that the option of buying individual plugs at 25-30 euro each, I think you'd be surprised at how quickly the return becomes profit so to speak.

btw, I'm not trying to argue you with you Tom. These are just my thoughts on the subject of pricing Scope plugs no matter how earth shatteringly professional they are. In the case of some 3rd parties, they might not end up better off either way, so why target at selling to 20 people with lots of cash, when you could target at 200 with little cash.

As long as the same return is attainable, then having 200 users of a plug-in pack would be 10 times better than having 20 in my opinion.

I agree 100% because of communication effect. Remember the P100 (sonic timeworks) which seems to be THE soft reverb at a cheap price. This was perfect (i will buy it in august for sure!) but this plug in is dsp demanding. As for digital audio, almost all scope users (even luna owners) will be able to use it. So a cheap price (but fair if we consider that's a professional tool) will lead to many purchasers for sure. Furthermore we have been waiting for good EQs for Scope. So, at 70€ i will buy one device after another....

Group buys kill long-term sales of plugins.

Also IMHO cheap prices do not necessarily equate to more sales. I've seen products which are incredibly cheap which still don't have very good sales. I find that, just as in the VST world, people just wait around for freebies rather than pay to support small devs.

I think a lot more people will buy cheap TVs which function as well as their 10 X more expensive 'top of the range' counterparts.
anyone noticed the price increase of S&S and M&M packs in CWA's shop around the time they offered the 98 Euro update... ?
Interesting you should bring that up actually & yes I noticed. It's quite a good benchmark as to the going rate of professionaly built Scope plugs, but at the same time CW are having a bit of a laugh if they think they'll sell many packs at that price considering the going rate of 2nd hand PulsarII's which come with one of the packs included.

It's also worth a mention that anyone who releases Scope devices either freely or cheaply will never be in the unfortunate, but self-inflicted position of feeling bitter about lack of sales & return on their investment.
