I,m considering to buy a pulsar 2 from ebay and I had a couple of concerns before purchasing it. Can someone help with some of my concerns?

1) I have A Powerpulsar (15 Dsp's) in my computer with software 4.5 and some 3rd party plugins. The Pulsar 2 I'm looking in buying has software 3.1 and some 3rd party plugins.

My concerns are:
If I connect the two with a STDM cable in my computer,

a)do I have to upgrade the Pulsar 2 to version 4.5 for them to work together?

b) If I were to load a plugin registered to the Pulsar 2 would it load only on the Pusar 2 or will it load on any card?

c) I/O's would I be able to route lets say from my Powerpulsar 24/96 mixer to the I/O's of the Pulsar 2 and vise versa?

These question might seem silly for some of you but I just don't know how putting cards together affect the scope environment even though I am a Creamware user for About 5 years now.
I want to increase my I/O's and my Dsp's so can someone please inform me if these cards will do that for me?

Thanks
Johannis

a)No update required. Your Pulsar2 will just act as extra DSP. You'll have 20 DSP total

b) As far as i know loading devices licensed to the Pulsar2 should cause no problems (as long as you have the keys of course), i have never tried this as i have everything registered to the one card. Perhaps someone else does this all the time and will comment here. You can transfer all your extra devices to the one card if needs be for a one off payment (€55 i believe). You may wish to do this anyway for neatness and in case you break up your system, you'll have all the devices on one card.

c) All I/Os for both cards will appear and you'll be able to use them any way you wish.

Isn't SCOPE cool?

b) scope sees the two cards as one big card, functionally. all your plugins that you have keys for will load on whatever chip has space.

You guys were very quick to respond , thats amazing!! Faster than if I called for an ambulance!!(Especially when I'm visiting Greece)
Anyways thanks for your help.

Something else, how does my computer know which card is the master card?
do i just install the new card and it automatically works without installing it's own software using the existing 4.5 software?

Thanks

Well basically, if your new card doesnt bring any new devs, you should just put it in a fitting PCI slot, plug in BOTH STDM CABLES (try with two first. if there is trouble, remove one of the cables).

fire up your computer. you might have to install the drivers once more, but after that, the only difference you should notice is more DSP and more ins and outs.

Forgot to add, if you buy this card used, ensure you also get STDM cable(s). also, write a mail to Ralph to get this card to you r account. its free. and you get an allkeys file for both cards which brings less installation noise.

KUL!
