I recently figured out a way to load up large projects w/o seeing the DSP limit window. I use 6 voice chords quite frequently with my right hand. So my left hand plays an analog SE-1x, while my right uses XPander, w/ Solaris layers, and yes it is very fat. The other synths are Saturn ( for the 24db Oberheim filter ) and B2003, with 8 stereo channels of Giga being treated w/ great DSP FX. I have 8 voice polyphony on both synths, and a total of 18 DSP FX!!
The trick I stumbled upon is when I save the project at the end of the night, I take polyphony of synths down to 1 on each. When I reload the project, I raise the voices on Saturn to 8, and Solaris to 10, which I don't really need. I back them down to Saturn 6, and Solaris 8, and voila! My DSP meter reads at 70 -75%, where as before I always saw those annoying windows and the meter also was very high, i.e.in the 90's.
Well not many of us play live, but I said that I would try to return some tips for all the good info I had recieved from you guys. I feel that this is a quirk that I stumbled upon. Cause there is nothing worse than fishing through a great synth like Solaris, which takes time to load on its own, and then see that God damn window about globilization of DSPs. Now I load up presets w/o incident at 8 voice poly. I use 3 x 6 DSP's for my live rig. Betcha I steal one of the 15 DSP cards in my studio rig before summer.
