What I'm trying to do is probably pretty basic, but this Modular stuff is all fairly new to me.
Using the Modular III, I'm trying to drive the cutoff frequency of a filter from a random LFO (got that much), sync the LFO to an external MIDI source (okay so far), and divide the MIDI clock into 16th notes. It's that last bit that's been giving me grief.
If I connect the frequency out of a MIDI clock module to the frequency in of the LFO, I get nice quarter notes. Although it seems like the filter changes are not tightly locked to the beat.
I haven't had any luck with any of the clock dividers. I've tried too many permutations to list here. The closest I've come to success was connecting an out from the divider to the frequency in of the LFO, but even with the divider set to 1/1, it sounds like it's pumping the LFO really, really fast (like several times faster than the 8Hz or so I'm looking for).
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to a) drive the LFO at 4 times the frequency of a MIDI clock signal and b) lock it tightly?
Many thanks,
John
