One of the greatest true hip-hop producers ever died yesterday. A really sad day for people who love hip-hop. Jay Dee worked with countless acts such as A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Madlib and many more. He also helped to found Detroit's legendary Slum Village group.

Well sure hip-hop has a history/heritage, but it's still a current art-form. And I ain't talkin about that stupid gangsta sh*t and silly commercial crap like 50 cent and Eminem. Jay Dee was one of the guys who was really into innovation and positivity and he had a huge influence with his style. In the end it was his music that killed him - he got bad health problems from staying in the studio all day and not eating anything

big big fan of A Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, De la soul. They'll all be very sad right now, given this news.
