i have an ASUS P4P Deluxe, 3.2GHx Dual processors. The cards are in order:
1. PowerSampler
3. Pulsar2 Plus
5. SCOPE SRB

The reason they are in this order is because of the physical nature of the space inside the PC. Do i need to re-order the IRQs? If so how do i do that? Any other things i may need to edit? BIOS settings? How do i do that?

Also worth noting is that i have SCOPE 4.0 registered to the PowerSampler and SCOPE 4.5 to the Pulsar2 - really i just want the PowerSampler to act as extra DSP. Will the card order mean SCOPE will try to load everything into three DSPs first, as i'm sure this will cause problems with mixers and Pro-12 for instance?

So many questions, so little time.

Feel free to say RTFM, but i don't always 'get' PC talk i'm afraid (oh the Mac was so simple compared to this). Also when i try to use the Installer in 4.5>Setup>Bin i get get "Cannot Start CreamWare Installer (error code 001)" For the love of God!

the card order can be manually set in the cset.ini if needed(check the manual), but i wouldn't say it's automatically a problem. i really don't think that you need to mess with irq assignments unless one or more of your cards are sharing an irq with something other than another cwa card.

personally, in the bios, i disable unused ports(serial,parallel, on board sound etc.) and usually turn off hyperthreading where applicable. in order to access the bios, you'll need to press a key when booting at the right time. i usually just press it repeatedly until i see the "entering setup" message. usually you need to press "delete", although it could also be F1 or F2. read the manual that came with the motherboard.

i also like to turn off all the extra "eye candy" in xp which robs resources. these settings are accessed through start/settings/control panel/system/advanced/performance. uncheck evereything except "use common tasks in folders". this will really help.

the file system is alittle different in xp, but it's really not that hard. there's a little bit more personal tweaking available than on a mac which is where the slghtly more complicated feel comes from. once you are used to the os, it'll be about the same as your mac.

to check for irq conflicts, go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/hardware/conflicts-sharing. if you see anything sharing an irq with your card that's not another cwa card, let us in the Z know and we'll help you fix that.

there's a lot of xp tips in Tips and Tricks, but most of the extreme stuff is really unessessary. pc guys often overthink and overtweak their machines......

if one card in a computer has 4.5, all cards in that computer have 4.5...
